Slouchy Slippers (issue 20) have been made... The SEW Hip! Pattern is advertised as a beginner's pattern, and I wholeheartedly agree.

The Slouchy Slippers are incredibly easy to make. If you are short on Christmas gift ideas and you fancy 'making' your loved ones a present, then this pattern is for you. Being Spring 'down under' I adapted the pattern a little... Instead of using fleece on the inside of my Slouchy's, I went for Osnaburgh Cotton; it's lightweight and works well with every colour imaginable. plus I have loads of it ... Of course, being Spring doesn't alter the fact that I need non-slip fabric for the underside of my slippers. Non-slip fabric is something I have never had to buy before... and judging by the look on the face of the assistant at my local 'you want it, we've got it' store, neither has anyone else in Sydney. It's interesting how much a blank look can convey. Not being one to give up at the first hurdle, I scuttled off to find something I could use instead.

Posted on | October 9, 2008 | 7 Comments I originally became interested in patternless sewing, many years ago, because I had a hard time finding patterns in my size. Nowadays, patterns in large sizes abound. Nonetheless, I still love my pattern free sewing. These patterns generally of three types. One type requires you to take your measurements and draw up the pattern yourself. One method is completely pattern free and includes instructions only. And the third, offers printable patterns in certain sizes only. Skirts are very easy to make without a pattern.

I came across a few patterns that didn’t fit into any other category, so I gave them their own. We normally assume underwear is too complicated or to time consuming to sew ourselves. Aprons can usually be whipped up in less than an hour. Shirts and dresses are much more complicated to make than skirts. Coats can easily be the most expensive piece of clothing in your wardrobe.

Hello my dear readers, when I published the new wallpaper for April 2011, Bettina commented on the blue dress of this header and that it IS hard to find such patterns these days.

Now this little comment made me sooo happy because I am just starting to work on my dissertation (yes, I am actually going to finish my studies this year ;)) and I have decided to work on my own project for this final paper: a platform for digitalized patterns. My actual dissertation will be a more theoretical approach to entrepreneurship in the field of DIY, but I took her comment as a trigger for finally starting to work on the digitalization process of these patterns. Felted decorative basket tutorial - Irina's Photography and beyond. Today, I'd like to share a simple yet great tutorial how to make a decorative basket of felt. This tutorial was shared with me by Lena who runs Baymut shop on Etsy. She made a piece of felt herself, but you don't need to struggle with it if you don't felt. :) You simply can buy a pre-made sheet of felt in a crafting store such Michaels.

So... You'll need: 1. A piece of felt approximately 8x8 inches (20x20 cm) 2. Hexagon pattern made of paper 3. Put the hexagon pattern on the felt, pin it, and cut it off. Take tree triangles and pin them as it's shown on the picture. Stitch them where they were pinned. Then, decorate the basket with sea shells, beads, lace, embroidery or some other decorating elements. Enjoy! Tutorial by Lena Baymut. Footprints. Pickup Skirt Tutorial. Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe via email so you don't miss a post. Today I’m going to share my pickup skirt tutorial I have been obsessed with pickup skirts lately. From the Mountain Laurel Dress to the skirt with the His & Hers Henleys to the Fairytale Seersucker Dress, to pins from my Women’s Clothing Fashion Inspiration board on Pinterest, I’m all about the pickup skirt.

My apologies that you’re going to see photos from both the His & Hers Henley Skirt and the Mountain Laurel dress. First, you need both your skirt and your lining. I know the lining looks kind of like a straight skirt in the pic above, but it was actually flared. Next, sew a gathering stitch around the bottom of the skirt. Sew around the bottom.

For a poufier skirt, like the Henley Skirt, add some netting between the layers. Now gather the top edge of the skirt to match the top edge of the lining. If this is part of a dress, tie to sew the skirt to the dress. Steggie back pack PDF Sewing Pattern par jojoebi. Purpledicular Dress Tutorial. Purpledicular Dress Tutorial (Purpledicular Dress = Purple Perpendicular Dress) I was so inspired by a stunning black and white striped dress from Oscar de la Renta Spring 2013 Ready to Wear collection that I decided to create my own version for my 5 year old daughter. Mr Oscar de la Renta was fortunate to be able to use pre striped fabric, but for me this was for a white sheet challenge, so I had to make my own striped fabric and I achieved that by doing piecing. Here's how I constructed the Purpledicular Dress, size 5.

Supplies needed: :: king size white cotton flat sheet :: half bottle of purple liquid dye :: one white invisible zipper :: white thread :: rotary cutter :: cutting mat :: quilting ruler :: bodice pattern Instructions:Half inch seam allowances throughout. From the white sheet cut out 2 sections that are approximately 50-some inches by 60-some inches. Sew strips together, alternating white and purple, until you have 16 rows.

Then sew together, press seams. Happy sewing ! Tutorials. Narrow hem with ban-rol Here’s an easy way to get a narrow hem on slippery or sheer fabrics using Ban-Rol. Reversable hoodie and fleecevest *reloaded pictures!* Reloaded the pictures for the tutorial ----> note: make sure your serger or sewing machine will go trough at least 5 layers of fleece, otherwise you won't get there... Just take a basic pattern of a sweater or hoodie an cut up the front part like this: I numbered the pieces (hope you can read that). you will have to cut 1x nr 1, 1x nr 2 and 1x nr 2+3. I'm gonna make this one with a zipper, so I only needed a little extra fabric where the zip would come, but make sure you add enough at the side where you're buttonholes are going to be when you are going to use buttons! Tadaa... the rest of the pattern is just a basic sweater model...and this is what your collar should look like. make sure you put the GOOD sides facing each other when you us two different colors like I did! You'll also need some long pieces like this... ok, so let's start to put it togetter...

Sew and turn your collar do not forget to sew the arrow along with it if you want an arrow to come out of your collar Result: and again: Palazzo Pants Tutorial. Well I just barely made the cut on Project Toddler Runway... I told you this competition was going to be tough! I am in love with Jenn's winning Yellow and Grey Dress!

So cute! My creation was the palazzo pants. I called them that after seeing a million of these on Project Runway Season 8... seriously, they were everywhere! I was actually amazed at how easy they were to make. But then I stumbled upon The Charlotte Letters's Sailor Pants tutorial and this girl saved my day! The tutorial for the sailor pants is really quite simple. Check it out... First trace your pants: First I did this on regular computer paper and then realized I barely had enough to add the 2 inches to the top and side so I took the pattern and traced it onto some left over tissue paper I found laying around... in other words... use whatcha got!

Then draw your pleat lines: Draw a line at 3", 4" and 5" from the middle of the pants. Now that you finished your pattern you can make your pants! Repeat for the other leg. Cute huh?
