No matter your browser, these plug-and-play links will let you get your job done faster and easier, and look like a pro in front of bosses and clients. The list isn't completely comprehensive, but it covers 95%+ of the SEO data points I retrieve on a monthly basis and a few extras I don't personally use that may be valuable to others. It also has a section at the end on how to make your own bookmarklets for any site, tool or service you use. Matt Cutts Movie Marathon. This post is the culmination of two of my lifelong dreams: (1) To spend an entire day on YouTube and call it "work", and (2) To Photoshop Matt Cutts' face on cartoon food.

Matt Cutts Movie Marathon

Early in 2009, Matt Cutts, Google's most visible anti-spam engineer, began releasing a series of short Webmaster Help videos. You've probably seen some of these videos, but what you may not know is that there are currently over 200 of them, with more than 70 posted in 2010 alone. From time to time, I've been amazed at the details that slip out during these videos, many of which don't get much play in the blogosphere.

So, I decided to watch all of the 2010 videos and report back on what I learned. This post contains my Top 10 picks along with a few interesting tidbits and one SHOCKING CONSPIRACY. Obligatory Disclaimers Let's get this out of the way, as Matt seems to be a lightning rod for controversy. SEOs and Developers: 5 Ways to Build The Relationship. Your developer. [Don't tell that to your spouse though.. eh?] As an SEO your life revolves around making changes to your site/application and getting all the pieces to fall into place. If you live in a perfect world, you have the ability to change all your on-page optimization including URL, Title tag, meta description, set up redirects, etc. But how many of us live in this fantasy la la land where everything is perfect? We need our developers. So what are some things you can do to build a better relationship with your dev team? 1. Remember the first time you showed your boss that traffic increased by 500% and the revenue for the month went up 200% just by removing those silly frames on the site?

With a little digging, you’re sure to find something on your own site where you can show the developers exactly how much of an impact their work has had on the company’s success. 2. I really love this one. 3. 4. 5. 10 SEO Problems & the Tools to Solve Them. Explaining SEO, Role by Role. To make a valuable impact, SEO has to be understood by more than just an organisation's search marketers.

Explaining SEO, Role by Role

This post suggests how to explain the concepts, and get buy-in, from different people within an organisation. I've chosen some of the standard roles that you may find in a company or organisation with a web-presence and for each one have listed: Their role: a description of their position within the company and their responsibilities.Persuade them: once you've described SEO, this gives something extra to get them excited about the possibilities of SEO for them / their department, to help get them on side.Ask them: I've tried to list one particular request you can make to people in each role to benefit the SEO process within your organisation. In addition, you should remember to give back to each of these stakeholders. Their role: Responsible for the whole company; interested in the 'big picture' and needs to be able to justify decisions and costs to the board and shareholders. More.
