These days, Sanneh is a staff writer at The New Yorker, where he continues to do great work, though it's rarely about music. So it was a real pleasure to see him return to writing about rap with his essay contributions to Michael Schmelling's photo book Atlanta, which was published late last year by Chronicle. Atlanta is a gorgeous coffee-table tome filled with vibrant, iconic photographs of the city's hip-hop scene. We spoke with Sanneh about what makes Atlanta such a unique and inviting hip-hop locale.
