Formed of one plate of steel and patinated to look like bronze, the bowl is raised in high relief with motifs inspired by classical art. The graceful mermaidlike siren forming the helmet's comb holds a grimacing head of Medusa by the hair. The sides of the helmet are covered with acanthus scrolls inhabited by putti, a motif ultimately derived from ancient Roman sculpture and wall paintings.

Australian sculptor and illustrator Sean Avery has a wonderful solution! The artist shatters old CD’s to make incredible animal sculptures. Of course, this is not the only way to use old CDs! Apparently the U.S. is lagging way behind Europe when it comes to witty shopping bag design. These 13 were spotted on an interesting site called BoredPanda.com , which calls itself “a highly visual oddities magazine dedicated to showcasing the world’s most creative artworks, offbeat products and everything that’s really weird or wonderful.” A perfect fit for the _floss, I’d say! made an account just to say that as any HUGE starwars nerd would know, the kessel run goes past a large group of black holes known as the maw. as most of us know black holes warp time AND space, therefore should one chose to travel around this dangerous area of space a little closer than other pilots might dare, he could (theoretically) shave actual Distance off his trip. http://www.nickcannon.com/post/insane-money-origami

I got a wild hair this weekend—haha, see what I did there?—and chopped nine inches of tangles into a chin-length bob, which was sort of a ballsy move for me, considering I'd been growing my hair for the last two and a half years, but I got the idea into my head and I couldn't get it out, and so that's how it went. Also I tinted my cardigan green and got my lazy eye fixed. Busy morning! Not to say it wasn't a little traumatic, of course.

The kiss was intimate with a hint of danger. And it was happening just a few feet from where my boyfriend was discussing the merits of Jaeger bombs. The last time I learned something completely new was that First Aid course in '05, when I nearly killed the CPR dummy. So with the advent of this sudden crash course in pirate, my noggin was all, "UNSUBSCRIBE." Imagine: you wake up and realize you’re driving a car.

At the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, where they are housed, the scrolls are rotated every few months to minimize the damage. As Bloomberg explains it , the Great Isaiah Scroll, which is the most ancient biblical manuscript on Earth, is so sensitive that only a copy of it is on display.

http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/split-family-faces How much do you and your family members really look alike? Quebec, Canada-based graphic designer and photographer Ulric Collette has created a shockingly cool project where he's exploring the genetic similarities between different members of the same family. By splitting their faces in half and then splicing them together, he creates interesting new people that are sometimes quite normal looking and other times far from it. He calls this series Genetic Portraits . (Did you notice that Ulric, the photographer, is one-half of some of these pairings?

30 of the World's Greatest Wedding Cakes

Few things are more important on a wedding day (apart from both partners turning up; the ring being secure; and nobody objecting during the ceremony) than the cake. Very few weddings are without such a centrepiece. It's just a shame that so many couples opt for the same traditional, boring designs when there is so much opportunity to impress and surprise the guests. Above: The Gothic Wedding Cake. This article was written by Shaun Usher, a blogger from Manchester.
