Queralbs. Queralbs (Catalan pronunciation: [kəˈɾaɫps]) is a municipality in the comarca of the Ripollès in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the Pyrenees to the north of Ribes de Freser, with the peaks of Puigmal (2909 m), Infern (2896 m) and Noufonts (2864 m). Tourism and hydroelectric generation are the bases of the local economy. The shrine of Núria is situated in the municipality, to the north of the village: it houses a romanesque marial image of la Mare de Déu de Núria. The shrine is reached by a rack railway from Ribes de Freser, which also serves the village. There is also a local road to Ribes de Freser (7 km, 4 miles), which serves the ski resort. Portico of the Romanesque Church in Queralbs The first historical mention of Queralbs is in the consecration act of the church of the Urgell Diocese in 836—thus the town's motto, poble mil·lenari (millennial town)--and its Romanesque church, dedicated to Saint James, dates to the late tenth century.

Earthquakes[edit] Demography[edit] Barcelona Connect Pyrenees Summer|The Pyrenees and Vall de Nuria in the summer. Pyrenees / Vall de Nuria While everyone is aware of the attractions of the Pyrenees region during the winter months, whether for skiing, snowboarding or just admiring the snow-capped mountains, come the summer time, we tend to forget that this area has a huge amount to offer all year round. It is not just for winter sports that the Pyrenees are good, but also for walking, climbing, bird watching, wildlife-spotting or generally enjoying the spectacular scenery as it changes with the seasons. The route from Barcelona to the Pyrenees is full of beautiful landscapes and rich in history. One way up to the Pyrenees takes you past Berga, known as the Gateway to the Pyrenees. To really reach the Pyrenees, though, it is necessary to travel north of Ripoll. The next step on from Ribes de Freser is the lovely village of Queralbs, the last vehicle-accessible village heading up into the Val de Ribes, towards the Vall de Nuria.

Drudge it becomes closer to Barcelona, begging the inevitable comparison. :: CATALUNYA TURISME :: Www.gencat.cat/diue/doc/doc_27575431_1.pdf.

Photowalk: Barcelona (Part 2) | Tim King Blog | Tim King Photographer. After hearing about a so-called “Park Guell,” I decided it was mandatory that I get more photos from Barcelona. And I think it was a good choice. Park Guell is one of the most impressive places I’ve been on all my travels. The park was designed by Gaudi and has such a unique style, even the most well-traveled person would be blown away. In addition to Park Guell, I had to see the Sagrada Familia, which is one of the most famous Cathedrals in the world.

And I can see why. It is so incredibly-detailed, so grandiose (I think that’s the first time I’ve ever used that word, but it’s suiting), and WOW – you have to make it a point to see it at some point in your life. I could only imagine living in Barcelona – this place would definitely be a weekly (if not several times a week) walk for me. Barcelona, you’ve set the bar pretty high…not sure if the other cities are going to be able to compete, but hey – this is Europe. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be traveling to: Spanish in Barcelona » Photowalking Barcelona.
