As I’ve been without my camera for what seems like months, I’ve not been able to photograph any of my ‘work in progress’ for a while. I have been busy, just not really been able to blog about it. Well my camera arrived back from the lab all shiny and new the other day and so today I spent some time taking images of the new rings I’ve made from the spoons I bought over the summer. DIY Rope Necklace – HonestlyWTF

And after seeing this Proenza Schouler necklace from their Resort 2011 collection, we jumped at the opportunity to recreate our own version of this amazing piece of jewelry! Start by cutting a 10″ and a 15″ piece of bungee (or climbing rope). Burn the ends with a lighter to prevent fraying. Then, wrap the middle sections with either twine or mason line using the friendship knot technique and use the hot glue gun to secure the ends to your bungee cord. (Click images to enlarge) Lay the center of the twisted cord in between the two pieces of covered bungee, twist twice at the top of the necklace and bring both sides down to create a small loop. Wrap each glued section with mason line or twine and trim any excess twisted cord. Your Proenza Schouler inspired necklace is ready to wear!

Guest DIY: Silje from Little Bird Crafts

I'm Silje from Little Bird Crafts. Elsie and I have been friends for a long time and I am so excited to contribute to the Blog Party today! Recently I've been really into making soaps. I am planning to make some for the RVA online store soon. :) I just made a fun mini book. Cut two 4x4" paper squares and four 4x5" paper strips, I used brown card stock, you can also use patterned paper. Use glue dots on the back of the paper flaps, and glue each paper strip flap to each of the four sides of one of the squares. Glue the second 4x4 paper square in the center to cover up the paper strips. Now you can decorate with pictures, or just cute little notes and text like I did, the options are really endless. Super easy, and super cute! I just FELT like crafting! Fluid Dress.
