InEnglish / About us / News & Events / News Archive. Milan Design Week will run from 8 to 14 April 2013 in the capital of Italian design. The week attracts audience – professionals, journalists and general public – from all over the world. The “Kiela – Design from Lapland” exhibition will present Arctic design in the Fuorisalone exhibition complex in the Tortona district. All the products within Kiela exhibition use Arctic materials in an artful and unconventional way. There will be design products from eight companies, all of which draw their inspiration and materials from northern environment.
Besides them, the exhibition displays works of eleven design students from the University of Lapland. The word ‘kiela’ refers to a certain part of ‘suopunki’ (a type of lasso used to catch reindeer) which is traditionally used for to gather up reindeer at the reindeer round-up.
