Posted by Grace Massa Langlois on Wednesday, 8th December 2010 Vanilla-Coconut Panna Cotta with Pomegranate Jelly is the first dessert in a trio of Mini Desserts I plan on serving for my daughter, Liana’s New Year’s Eve party.

I intend to present this trifecta of desserts in a variety of mismatched shot glasses. We are not planning a sit down dinner this year, rather an evening filled with guilty pleasures, mouth-watering hor d’oeuvres, dips and finger foods. I promised myself the menu would only consist of simple desserts. If they could be made ahead, even better! I’ve learned to streamline things over the years. Undeniably this dessert will become the Show Stopper on your Holiday Dessert Table. Your guests will not only enjoy the silky, delicate vanilla infused Coconut Panna Cotta but the burst of tartness in the Pomegranate Jelly will also refresh the palate.

In this case, less is more. You can also flavor it with spices like cinnamon or cayenne pepper or add a tablespoon of liquor like Grand Marnier, Chartreuse or Tia Maria. Or boil the water first, take off heat, place a couple of Earl Grey tea bags, let infuse and then use it as your liquid. The most important part of the recipe is achieving the right consistency. Honey Gin Cocktail Recipe

In this drink, it adds a lovely floral quality as well as provides a subtle sweetness. With only four ingredients — honey, orange juice, lemon juice, and gin — this libation is fairly simple, but it's sophisticated and perfectly balanced. For those who dislike gin, I recommend trying a different spirit; vodka would be fine, but also a sweeter whiskey or bourbon would be delicious. Ready for the easy recipe? Keep reading.
