Opinion: 26 vs 27.5 vs 29-inch Wheels

It was a simple one, a good one, but some things just weren't meant to be. SRAM would come down to Massa Vecchia and bring their test bikes with 26, 27.5 and 29-inch wheels. We'd ride them back-to-back for a few days and make some observations. Lying on a sweat-stained bed, alternating between shivering and burning isn't the time to try and write words of great meaning. I first heard of 27.5-inch wheels in Taipei this year, where they were being touted as "650B", which sounds a bit too much like an MDMA-derivative for my liking.

Seeing the rise in interest in this new wheel size, SRAM built test bikes to help people understand the differences between the three. The Testing To test the bikes I invited a couple of friends who ride at different levels to bring in a wider range of opinions. Bad Science I rode the 26-inch bike first, then the 27.5 and finally the 29. 2012 - A Year in Review - Part One. Some of us have enough fun by simply going out for an easy ride, others get the most enjoyment from progressing to bigger and bigger jumps and drops, and still others smile the most after a leg-burning, lung-exploding climb that leaves the taste of vomit in their mouths - different strokes for different folks. A serious heavyweight in terms of both design and well, weight, it has become the poster child for a new breed of 29ers that are pushing the limits of where you thought those big wheels could go. DJ , Pump Track plans. The Leelikesbikes "Welcome to Pump Track Nation" is written well, BUT . . the thing people don't realize is that it is primarily intended for backyards. if you have a lot of space, like a public park, do not build a small 30 ft.

X 70ft. oval or figure 8 pump track. that is not what mtb/bmx is all about !! . the more transition you have to land on, no matter how big the jump, the more the jumps will have flow. flat ground is your enemy. rythm comes from having back to back transitions. inclines, declines, curves.hope that helps.
