Birthday gift package decorations made of paper | DIY and Craft Tutorials. Vintage Earrings Tutorial and GIVEAWAY!!!! CLOSED. A few months ago I found the nienie dialogues. I loved her sense of style, especially her choice of earrings. Shortly after I fell in love with her bright red rose earrings I found an identical pair at Forever 21, for only $4.80! I bought as many as I could but like many sets of things (socks, shoes, gloves), one would get lost....found....then lost again.

So I found myself back at Forever 21 looking for my favorite rose earrings only to find a whole lot of 80s checkered hoopy things. Ugh. Then one day, as I was searching for material at my nearby fabric store I had an idea. And with that I made these. Plus, I think this is a GREAT gift idea. First choose your buttons. As I mentioned earlier I liked the rose shape.

Whoops. You also want to purchase the earring backs (pearl posts and findings). So, now you have your materials. I took the rose shaped buttons and spray painted a pair red. For the sea green pair, I used acrylic sea green paint only 50 cents at JoAnns. Ooo, ooo, ooo. DIY No-Sew Bow Ties. Categories Tags Vendors Style Colors Happy Memorial Day everyone! Supplies: wooden boxes or trays enough wooden rulers to cover 4 sides of each tray/box (Each ruler is 1″ x 12″ — we got ours online at Woodworks Ltd.) utility knife ruler pencil wood stain (in several colors — we used Minwax in “Golden Oak,” “Special Walnut” and “Dark Walnut”) foam brush cardboard or plastic to paint on woodglue clamps or heavy objects sandpaper Step 1: Stain the fronts of all the rulers with the three stains and let dry (about 30 minutes). Step 2: Stain the inside of your box or tray. Step 3: Sand the edges of the rulers with sandpaper to age them a little. Step 4: Cut some of the rulers in half, some at 8 inches, some at 7 inches (be sure to mix the colors!)

Step 5: When you are happy with the layout, put some wood glue on the tray and some on the backs of the rulers and put into place. Use an old school label maker (like this) to spell out a favorite quote, stick it on a piece of paper, and pop it into the frame. You could even spell out several quotations and rotate them for a little variety. If you want to add a little more pizzaz, you could cover the paper with a watercolor wash before applying your labels.

DIY: Stencil Text on Fabric. January 16th, 2012 Have you tried fabric markers yet? I finally got around to it, and they work great. Paired with a stencil you can use them to stencil your favorite quote on a tea towel, apron, t-shirt, table runner, pillow cover, place mat, cloth napkin, old pair of blue jeans—anything you can think of! {*style:Supplies: *}fabric item you want to stencil on some cardboard a pencil a letter stencil (I have this one. ) a fabric marker (I loved my black Sharpie fabric marker!) After choosing your quote, wrap your fabric over the cardboard to keep the marker from bleeding through and to keep the fabric stretched out smooth. Use a pencil to stencil your quote onto the fabric. Once you’ve penciled everything in, go at it with your fabric marker! The Sharpie fabric marker packaging didn’t say anything about heat setting the ink, but I will probably press my fabric before I wash it, just to be safe.

DIY Gift: For the Gardener. November 26th, 2012 I think any garden lover would be happy to receive a new planter, but how much more special would it be if you painted it yourself and made a set of garden markers to go with it? Follow this DIY tutorial to paint a color block terra cotta pot for the gardener in your life.

Don’t forget to use their favorite color! Then follow this DIY tutorial to make a set of herb markers. They would look great bundled together with twine and tucked inside the pot. If you want to add more, you could include a few herb seed packets. West Elm sells a lovely set. You could even include some new garden gloves (or some more manly garden gloves if your garden lover is a dude.) Or maybe a trowel like this one. Stuff the planter with some of that crinkly shredded paper stuff, and arrange everything else inside like you would a gift basket. DIY Ring Mirror Backdrop. We’re fortunate to have Yoleine of Yellow Bird Events back with us to share how she made the incredible ring mirror displays from her Modern Mediterranean shoot — and we were tickled to see how easy the process is! Read on for a list of supplies and a guide of images from Fondly Forever Photography to help you make your very own: For this project, you will need: -Glue (I prefer GORILLA GLUE super glue) -Embroidery hoops in different sizes (up to you on which sizes you prefer) -Gold spray paint (I like to go with the antique metallic finish, but in any case you can go with any color!)
