There are many steps and important deadlines you must meet. Review the steps and deadlines below very carefully, and familiarize yourself with the admissions requirements pertaining to each. The United States Air Force Academy wants individuals of high moral character to further develop into future leaders of the Air Force and our nation.
Our Admissions process includes a qualitative review of character factors. Each applicant’s character assessment consists of: Admissions Liaison Officer Interview As part of the admissions process, you must meet with an Air Force Academy Admissions representative called an Admissions Liaison Officer (ALO). You are encouraged to contact your ALO at your earliest opportunity to schedule your personal interview. Extracurricular Activities. Participation in a variety of athletic and non-athletic high school activities is an asset in preparing for the demanding Air Force Academy program, and is a competitive factor in your application to the Academy.
Sustained participation and leadership in a few activities is desirable. Medical Evaluation. All candidates admitted to the United States Air Force Academy must meet the medical and weight standards for a commission in the United States Air Force.
If you do not meet these standards as an applicant, you will be disqualified unless provided a medical waiver. Medical standards must also be maintained throughout your time at the Academy. If you are appointed to the Academy and do not maintain the standards as a cadet, you may be disenrolled. Take care to make all scheduled examination dates to ensure your application will be completed by required deadlines. Selection Criteria. To gain admission to the United States Air Force Academy, you must strive to supply your best possible performance regarding each admissions requirement and at each application step.
Your performance on all admissions factors combine to create your overall competitive standing amongst prospective students, or cadets, and may lead to an offer of appointment to the Academy. A Selection Panel, composed of a cross section of senior Academy staff, reviews each completed admissions file according to our admissions guidelines. The quantitative admissions factors reviewed by the panel are your Weighted (Objective) Composite score, which is derived from your Academic Composite and Extracurricular Composite scores.
Fitness Assessment. Physical fitness is key to success at the United States Air Force Academy, especially during Basic Cadet Training (BCT) and the fourth-class (freshman) year.
Therefore, satisfactory completion of the Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA) is an important admissions requirement. This test of strength, agility, speed and endurance is designed to predict your aptitude for demands of Academy life. It will help determine whether you possess the stamina and movement skills required to successfully complete the physical program at the Academy. Academic Performance. The Air Force Academy seeks individuals who possess exceptional academic prowess and leadership potential.
Because we offer one of the most prestigious and respected academic programs available, academic admissions standards are high. The Admissions process includes a review of two major academic performance indicators: Our students, or cadets, must maintain a strict schedule of study, athletic responsibilities, leadership and military duties. Before you can be considered for appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, you must obtain a nomination.
A nomination does not guarantee appointment to the Academy, however, no appointment can be offered without one. Securing nominations is a competitive process. Eligibility. To win appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, you must be of good moral character and meet high leadership, academic, physical and medical standards.
To be eligible to compete for appointment, you must first meet basic eligibility requirements. Grading. At the United States Air Force Academy, you will be held to strict standards, academically, physically and morally.
When it comes to the acquisition of knowledge, the honing of the body, and the attainment of military proficiency, we take our jobs very seriously. And we expect the same from our cadets. Most courses at the Academy are graded on a grade point scale, with an “A” worth four grade points per semester hour and an “F” worth zero. You’ll receive a pass/fail grade in several courses, particularly military training and airmanship. You should expect to spend 100 minutes in outside preparation for each 50-minute class period. University Departments requiring temporary employment services on the campuses of the OSU Systems and A&M Colleges shall use one of the two employment services listed below.
