T-Shirt Mod: Boxy to Foxy. Sweet Verbena-Tunic Top. So I was looking through the clearance rack at Target the other day, hoping to find some cheap tees to dress up with reverse applique.

Sweet Verbena-Tunic Top

I was frustrated to find that nearly all of their clearance rack tees were at least 3 sizes too big. I like to buy my shirts to be a little big, but not that big. So I had a thought. Why not just cinch in the waist so that I could have a cute tunic to wear with leggings (my new obsession)? And yes, it actually worked! Materials: Oversized Tee 1/2 Wide Elastic Matching Thread Tutorial: Measure elastic around the smallest part of your waist. Sew the ends together. Turn your tee inside out.

Pull the tee through your elastic hoop. Pin elastic to the shirt at both seams. This is where it gets a little tricky. Now sew all the way around using a zig zag stitch. Don't fret about getting this absolutely perfect. And that's it! Pair with some leggings and boots for a cute, fall look! You can even add a little belt for extra cuteness (: Watermark Tee by Sweet Verbana - StumbleUpon. Hello U-Create readers!

I am so excited to be guest posting here today. It just so happens to be my first guest post and I'm still a little shocked that it's here at Ucreate, one of my favorite blogs! A little bit about me.. I'm from a little town called Keller, Texas. I'm a junior at Texas A&M University (whoop!). I'm working on my education degree and expect to be an elementary school teacher in just two short years. When I'm not busy studying for classes, I love to sew. I just started blogging in May and have already met all kinds of wonderful women, I hope you'll stop by and say hi too! Watermark Tee Tutorial What I love about this project is that it's completely customizable.

Materials: Elmer's Blue Gel Glue (it must be the blue gel, white won't work) Fabric Dye (RIT is my tried and true brand) A white cotton Tee, Tank, Dress etc. Tutorial: If you're unfamiliar with Batiking, it's a method of dyeing fabric in which you create a design with a dye- resist. Step 1: Prepare Step 2: Design. Simple tunic tutorial. I love tunic style tops so when I found a plain tunic inspired t-shirt at Target, I knew that it would be perfect to alter.

I purchased a larger size than normal- for a little extra room- tunics can't be tight! I just read that lace is everywhere in fall 2010 fashion so I decided to use a little lace and beads to add to the shirt. I picked out a two different shades of green lace. I sewed two pieces of dark green lace together. Then I used a piece of lighter green lace and turned it into a ruffle and sewed it- down the middle- to the top of the dark green lace. Next I used a a piece of silk ribbon that I folded up and sewed it to the top of the lace. I knew that I wanted to add gold beads for a little sparkle but I just didn't have the patience or time to hand sew them all on..insert Aileen's Super Fabric textile adhesive here. I added little gold beads down the surface of the ribbon.

And there you have it- a lightweight and SIMPLE tunic that can be worn by itself.... or under a jacket! ReStyle a vintage cardigan! Kinsey and I came up with a super sweet idea for restyling a vintage cardigan!
