Most articles touch on some common themes: finding passionate work, building positive and healthy relationships, being open-minded, and trying new things. This is, as you know, is all great advice. But over time, even though I started to explore and define my own life with these themes in mind, something felt off. There would be days where I would be insanely happy and days where I felt immensely depressed. During the happy days I’d have no problem meeting people, exploring the city, feeling optimistic, and loving the world. My positive energy radiated from my personality and I attracted everything I wanted in my life.
But the down days were much, much worse. On the surface, there didn’t seem to be any correlation. The Principle “The more you create, the more you deserve to consume. Some ideas: The 4-Hour Workweek and Timothy Ferriss. Is Everyone Doubting Your Dreams? GOOD. I receive a lot of messages from people asking about how to deal with their families and friends doubting their dreams. It is incredibly difficult to persevere when the people you have always trusted the most are skeptical or even down-right opposed to you following your bliss.
The Good News: This is normal. The Better News: It’s most likely a sign that you’re on the right path. If people are calling you crazy or stupid, chances are you are doing something GREAT. This is YOUR bliss, no one else’s. In fact, you should be concerned if you’re not running into opposition. Dream BIG. When someone lists off reasons why you’re crazy, imagine a beaver explaining to a bird why he shouldn’t try to fly :) Smile, nod thoughtfully, and say “Thanks for the input!” Little do they know they just gave you a push forward.
