Sudbury school

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudbury_school A Sudbury school is a school that practices a form of democratic education in which students individually decide what to do with their time, and learn as a by-product of ordinary experience rather than adopting a predetermined educational syllabus or standardized instruction by classes following a prescriptive curriculum . Students have complete responsibility for their own education and the school is run by direct democracy in which students and staff are equals. [ 1 ] The name 'Sudbury' refers to Sudbury Valley School , founded in 1968 in Framingham, Massachusetts , the first school of this type.

Random

In Wikipedia and other MediaWiki projects, Special:Random can be used to access a random article in the main namespace ; this feature is useful as a general starting point for browsing Wikipedia or if you just want to learn a random piece of information. Depending on your browser, it's also possible to load a random page using a keyboard shortcut (in Firefox and Chrome Alt-Shift + X ). To create a link to a random page in a different namespace, use [[Special:Random/ Namespace ]] . If you are wondering if the "random article" feature is really random, read the answer here . Taxonomy

Taxonomy (from ancient Greek τάξις taxis , arrangement, and νομία nomia , method ) [ 1 ] is the academic discipline of defining groups of biological organisms on the basis of shared characteristics and giving names to those groups. Each group is given a rank and groups of a given rank can be aggregated to form a super group of higher rank and thus create a hierarchical classification . [ 2 ] [ 3 ] The groups created through this process are referred to as taxa (singular taxon ). An example of a modern classification is the one published in 2009 by the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group for all living flowering plant families (the APG III system ). How Khan Academy Is Changing the Rules of Education | Magazine

Teachers have long known that one-on-one tutoring is effective, but in 1984, the education scholar Benjamin Bloom figured out precisely how effective it is. He conducted a metastudy of research on students who’d been pulled out of class and given individual instruction. What Bloom found is that students given one-on-one attention reliably perform two standard deviations better than their peers who stay in a regular classroom.
