La Scratch Machine a été conçue lors d'une rencontre entre artistes multimédias et musiciens, organisée au Florida d'Agen (47) pour la Cyberspace fiesta 2008. La Scratch Machine résume assez bien la volonté qui préside à cette Cyberspace fiesta, à savoir : faciliter le croisement des disciplines et aider à la construction collective d'objets créatifs par le multimédia et pour le public. Deux artistes d'univers très di érents ( Jean-Yves Gratius et DJ Boulaone ) ont eu l'idée de concevoir ensemble un outil multimédia, permettant de scratcher du son sans platine. Les besoins techniques // Le scratch sonore virtuel : Ce dispositif permet de scratcher du son à l'aide d'une table en plexiglas et de faux disques vinyle en carton.

People diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) have impaired social interaction and communication, needing special instruction from parents and teachers. As more and more children are diagnosed, the need for effective interventions grows. Yet, when we searched for resources to aid in the development of social skills, much of what we found was expensive and copywritten. To fill this gap, we propose a set of activities developed for software on a multitouch computer. Many with autism have a natural interest in computers, yet computers are usually used by one person at a time.

joy of light. is an openSource application that provides a means for people to play with light-painting in an intuitive and colorful way. This tool has been used by handicapped children to play and explore their body-image in different institutions, such as the Calos Korean Community Association, Fundación Cosechando Alegría, Espacio Gaia and Holos San Isidro Cultural Center. New version of it have been migrated to openFrameworks making it faster and prettier.

Inspired by the brilliant use of an age old concept in the recent OKGo ‘WTF’ video (which in turn was inspired by this photo by Thomas Eakins), I created this little open-source demo in processing . It works in real-time with a webcam. Check it out and download the source here .
