How To Hollow Out Rocks

I recommend drilling softer sedimentary rocks (sandstone, limestone, etc). When scouring the beach for rocks, these tend to be well rounded. Those that are not rounded are probably harder igneous or metamorphic rock and are likely to break apart while drilling or even break your drill bit. Well, I had to make cord ends and a clasp for it as I didn't have either in bronze. I did have 20G bronze wire and this is how I went about making the findings. The 20G wire gives a more delicate look. You could also go for thicker wire like 18 G or lower for the clasp. This style of clasp is ideal for chain maille jewelry because the double loops resemble the double rings used in the weaves. COIL ENDSI coiled some lengths of wire around a knitting needle. Sterling silver is the preferred material due to it's relatively low cost and ease of use. Sterling silver wire is mixed with a small percentage of other materials, which makes the wire more malleable but not too soft. Fine silver has a higher content of silver than sterling, however, it can be too soft and becomes easily kinked or unraveled. Karat gold wire is very expensive and sometimes brittle, therefore should only be used by more experienced wire wrappers. Goldfilled wire is covered with quality gold, and is also perceived as being precious, but does not carry the expensive price tag as karat gold.
