His artworks are often satirical pieces of art which encompass topics from politics, culture, and ethics. His street art, which combines graffiti with a distinctive stenciling technique, has appeared in London and in cities around the world. Possibly born in Bristol in 1974, Banksy began as a freehand artist before switching to stenciling around the year 2000; his anti-war, anti-establishment and pro-freedom graffiti images began springing up on city walls in the late 1990′s. Although he has given numerous interviews and even published several books, Banksy’s true identity remains unknown. As written in DailyMail in March ‘08 Banksy pulled off an audacious stunt to produce what is believed to be his biggest work yet in central London. Andrew Newman, 35, a businessman from Dulwich, who works locally, said: ‘It was only on Sunday morning that the Post Offices guys realised what had happened.’ Amazing Graffiti Art by Banksy.

Wenner's specialty is the centuries-old practice of street painting. But what sets him apart from other artists who cover swaths of public space with their work is that Wenner's work is 3D. It appears to drop deep beneath the ground into another world--one often filled with characters from Greek mythology or a fairytale. We asked Wenner a few questions about how he creates his larger-than-life installations and what it's like to be an artist working in the midst of a crowd. He's also been kind enough to share some photos of his art with us; check out the full gallery on his website. How did you start doing street art, and how did you develop the 3D style? I started to paint on the streets of Rome, Italy in 1982.

The three-dimensional street painting is my own invention. My own geometry is different from the 17th century works, and I have not published it. What's your favorite project that you've completed? Tapping the creative talents of street artists, illustrators and graphic designers is an effective and cool way to make bland public spaces, old buildings, bridges and car parks new again, and to freshen up the concrete jungle. It is also an effective way of keeping graffiti away. Plus it draws attention to the building or structure as “potential” not as something to be hated. Maybe it will even bring a buyer, a new occupant or additional creative ideas about how to revitalize the building?

Anything but the current dilapidated state of abandoned spaces! Street artists and muralists bring with them vibrant and a new perspective that architects or designers may not have. All rights reserved. Roa, a hugely talented Belgian street artist from Ghent, is renowned for his giant black and white animal street art. Roa started off in the street art scene painting animals on abandoned buildings and warehouses in the isolated industrial areas of his hometown. Today, Roa’s animals may be found slumbering on the sides of semi derilict buildings and peering out from shop shutters in citiy streets all accross the world from New York to Berlin and Warsaw to Paris. Graffiti is one of the most free art expressions of the world; you don’t do it for money nor for an institution, it’s free expression and it liberates yourself creatively from a lot of restrictions — Roa Roa has visited London on a number of occasions and left his mark. The huge scale and highly intricate nature of Roa’s street art means that pieces take many hours to paint.
