http://www.mindcontrol.org/~hplus/nat-punch.html This document aims to describe how to provide peer-to-peer network communication in the case where both peers are each behind an individual NAT device. This is possible by using a central server for authentication and matchmaking purposes, but once connections are established, the server gets out of the loop and no bandwidth is expended on the server. First, some assumptions just to make the explanation clear: The client has local IP address 10.0.1.1 and is said to "live behind" the thing providing NAT services (firewalling or connection sharing. Let's call the client "Joe". The server has global ("real") IP address 20.0.2.2, and runs a service of some sort on port 2345 which is generally accessible from the internet at large.

GeeXboX

http://www.geexbox.org/ After countless years of development, the 2.0 release of GeeXboX (codename “Love It or Shove It”) finally has landed. The GeeXboX project was created in December 2002, 9 years ago, to become the major HTPC / MediaCenter dedicated Linux distribution. From a ridiculous 3 MB ISO image, using an ultra-simple customized version of MPlayer OSD, GeeXboX now has evolved into a much more mature system. Our objective always has been to provide you with a Linux distribution, so easy to use, that anyone, regardless of any computer skill, would be able to make use of it. Over the years, the project has evolved to always provide more features and bring support to more and more hardware devices, which we managed to do, at some cost.

Work the Shell - Counting Words and Letters | Linux Journal

I know I have been writing about the basics of working with variables in shell scripts, but I'm going to diverge and address a recent query I received. Okay? (And, hey, write to me.) “Dear Dave, I seek an edge when I next play Hangman or other word games. I want to know what words are most common in the English language and what letters are most common in written material too. If you can show how to do that as a shell script, it'd be useful for your column, but if not, can you point me to an on-line resource?

Several people have asked me about the system monitor running on the root window of my ThinkPad X60s’ X11 desktop – not many of them had spotted that is was actually just conky with an advanced configuration and a custom wallpaper: My ~/.conkyrc can be downloaded from here . The panel at the bottom center is from FluxBox , my window manager of choice. The panel to the left is fbpager , a desktop pager for use with FluxBox. http://blog.brixandersen.dk/2007/09/23/system-monitoring-wallpaper/

This is a project to port Android open source project to x86 platform, formerly known as " patch hosting for android x86 support ". The original plan is to host different patches for android x86 support from open source community. A few months after we created the project, we found out that we could do much more than just hosting patches.

security and network
