Create a Vibrant Blueprint in Photoshop. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to create a blueprint that is based off another image. The techniques used are simple and can be used on a lot of designs. What We Will Be Creating The tracing technique that we are going to be using to create the final result shown below can be used in a wide variety of designs. Getting Setup To begin, create a new document in Photoshop (mine is 590x350px since the image I’m tracing is small). Document Size and Guides Keep in mind that the blueprint will be larger than the image being traced.

An easy way to create guides at the center of your document is to make a selection of the entire document: Select > All (Ctrl+A). Let’s create a background for the design. Foreground: #333333 Background: #111111 Once the colors have been selected, grab the Gradient Tool (G) and, on the background layer, drag from the bottom left corner to the top right corner. Everything you need to know about Parallax - Productivedreams.com. If you are looking for a definition of parallax, here it goes. As far as the web (especially design) industry is concerned, parallax is the arrangement/animation of images in a way that lets you feel the distance between them. For example, imagine that you are looking through the window of a moving vehicle. You will see the objects closer to you moving faster compared to the distant ones.

The sun stays still while the trees, buildings and other objects move. In this post I would like to walk you through different posts, examples and tutorials that would help you achieve this effect. This technique was initially used in 2d video games and now mostly seen in single page portfolio websites and website headers. I would like to show you a few hand-picked websites that uses parallax before I proceed. Eric J – This is one of my favorite websites using Parallax in the way it should be. Step 1 Lets begin by opening a new document in Photoshop by selecting File>New from the Main Menu. My file size is 540x300px at 72ppi for those of you following along at home. Because our notepad paper will be white, lets begin by changing the document’s background color.

With the new document open, click on the foreground swatch in the Tools palette to bring up the color picker. Pick a background color that you like and that will be easy to see the white paper against (I chose #e9dfb8, which you can type in the box at the bottom of the color picker). Step 2 Lets go ahead and assume that we’re going to use this scrap paper to hold a note to our readers in the sidebar of our imaginary blog. Create a new layer by clicking the Create New Layer icon at the bottom of your layers palette.

Step 3 Now it’s time to create the initial shape of the paper. Choose the Rectangular Marquee tool from the Tools palette by pressing the M key, then drag out a rectangular selection onto the stage. Step 4. Photoshop Tutorials | Electrifying Glow Album Art. Introduction This tutorial is a bit involved and assumes that you are proficient enough in Photoshop to follow along without me holding your hand. That being said, lets jump right in. Step 1 I took this photo at a show The Killers played at Madison Square Garden in New York this past summer… packed house, great crowd… anyway, here’s the photo. Lets first start by drawing a nice curvy path with the pen tool that we’ll use as our main wrapping glow line.

Step 2 Create a new layer called "First Stroke" and switch to the Brush tool. Step 3 With your tool of choice remove the sections along the stroke that should be behind your subject. Step 4 Add an Inner and Outer Glow as shown below. Step 5 Duplicate the "First Stroke" layer, clear the layer styles and add a 6px Gaussian Blur. Step 6 Create a new layer called "Particles", activate the Path we created earlier and switch to the Brush tool. Step 7 Copy the layer style from the "First Stroke" layer and paste them into the "Particles" layer. Step 8. Photoshop Tutorials | Sticker Edge Peel. Step 1 First let me say this is not a sticker making tutorial so you’ll need to have your own sticker prepared or download the source files at the end of the lesson where I’ve added a second file with a pre-made sticker for you. How nice am I! Ok, so I’m starting with a new document 540x300pixels at 72ppi, then filling the background color with a light gray so we can see the difference between the stage and the edge of our white sticker.

Click on the foreground swatch in the Tools palette and enter the color code #e4e4e4 in the field at the bottom then click OK to set this as your new foreground color. Press Command-Delete (PC: Ctrl-Backspace) to fill the Background layer with the foreground color then open your sticker file and drag your sticker onto the new documents stage. (Go on and download the source files at the bottom of the lesson so you’ve got my sticker.pdf file with these steps already done for you if you want.) Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 Step 7 Step 8 Step 9 Step 10 Step 11. Photoshop Tutorials | Electrifying Text. Step 1 Open a new file 600 x 300 at 72dpi and fill the background with black. Select the text tool (T) and type the lettering you want to effect on the stage. I’m using Helvetica 80pt Bold in this example. Now right click on this type layer in the layers palette and select Rasterize Text.

Step 2 Duplicate the Wind layer by pressing Command+J (CTRL+J on PC) and call this new layer Text. Hide the new Text layer by clicking the little eye icon in the box to the left on the layers paette and click back to the Wind layer. Step 3 Next we are going to apply the Wind filter to our Wind layer by selecting it from the filters menu (Filter>Stylize>Wind) and choosing the Wind and From The Right options. Now rotate the layer back to normal (Edit>Transform>Rotate 90° CCW) and repeat the previous steps blowing wind in each direction twice. Step 4 While still on the Wind layer apply the Ripple filter (Filter>Distort>Ripple). Step 5 Lesson Files + Additional Resources Tell Your Friends Support A Hero. Firefish Photoshop Tutorial. In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to create colorful abstract spray effect for use in your graphics. This has become quite a trendy technique recently, and can be accomplished fairly easily. This technique has been made quite popular by digital artists around online communities such as deviantArt and Flickr, but my favorite example of this effect would have to be N.Design Studio’s use of it directly on their website.

Nick, the owner of said site, has put together a nice guide himself on some of his techniques, but today I’d like to elaborate a bit more on the Spray Effect. Where to use this effect This is a great post-effect for your compositions, so you’ll probably want to use it towards the completion of your works. For this demonstration, I’ve prepared a Photoshop Document (1.35 Mb) that you may choose to use to practice this technique on. As cliche as it may sound, these different effects really do work, and many modern websites and designs use them regularly. Let’s take a look at a few: The 2 Pixel Divide The two pixel divide is a widely used effect on interface design, and layout design. Some quick examples would be Windows Media Player (Version 11), Pixel2Life.com, and 2Advanced.net. It’s very easy to accomplish, and only takes Two Pixels to really make it.
