There are also a few jumps that look a little too close to the far edge of the pool.
That makes the jump doubly scary. So, is it possible to run and jump from the high dive and hit the far end of the pool? Let’s find out. Gathering Information After looking around on Google Maps, I found the location of the high dive. That’s about 16 meters from the end of the platform. Projectile Motion Yes, there is some guy jumping off a platform — in physics we would call this projectile motion even though he isn’t being “launched” like you might think. Since the only force is in the vertical direction, I can write the following two force equations. Our organization was developed over twenty years ago by physics teachers for persons interested in physics education in the state of Minnesota. There are no dues, just an interest in sharing ideas that can improve physics education and the persons attending the meetings. There are usually 4 meetings a year. We have had people attend who live in northern Iowa or northern Minnesota and we try to accommodate these participants by scheduling meetings from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturdays (the 2nd Saturday of odd-numbered months). It is usually easier to attend a meeting on a Saturday morning versus a weekday. There is a newsletter sent to some schools.
