Until 1989, Poland was ruled by a communist regime, therefore subject to several rules that applied to all states within the sphere of influence of the Soviet Union. The media, travel abroad, and the import of goods were all heavily controlled.
In general, electronic dance music was treated as a symptom of the moral decay of capitalist countries and was banished from state-owned media (and there was no other media available).
