EgyptAir’s first A220-300 makes maiden flight Airlines Aircraft Manufacturers. 23 August 2019: EgyptAir's first A220-300 has successfully completed its inaugural test flight from the Mirabel assembly line.
The first of 12 aircraft EgyptAir has on order will be delivered to the airline in the coming weeks. EgyptAir's A220 will offer passengers with superior comfort, its innovative cabin design will have the widest economy seats of any single-aisle aircraft and panoramic windows for more natural light. The aircraft is outfitted with a brand new cabin layout of 134 seats, will now enter its final phase of completion before being delivered to the airline.
Portugal signs contract for five multi-mission airlift KC-390 Defence. 23 August 2019: The Portuguese Government and Embraer signed a contract for the acquisition of five multi-mission airlifters Embraer KC-390.
The contract was signed at Embraer's facility in Evora. Services, support and a flight simulator are also included in the contract as part of the process to modernise Portuguese Air Force capabilities to support national Armed Forces operations and increase readiness in missions of public interest. Deliveries are slated to begin in 2023. Portugal is the biggest international partner of the KC-390 programme. The Brazilian National Aviation Agency (ANAC) has given the Civil Certification to KC-390 in 2018 and is now in full serial production. Quantum signs agreement for 26 electric airplanes from Bye Aerospace Aircraft Manufacturers.
23 August 2019: Quantum Air has signed a purchase deposit agreement for 22 of its all-electric four-seat eFlyer 4s and 2 two-seat eFlyer 2 airplanes from Bye Aerospace.
The company has also signed a comprehensive agreement that consists of two future advanced aircraft under development from Bye Aerospace. George E. Bye, CEO of Bye Aerospace said, "One of Quantum Air's goals is to disrupt aviation, providing more accessible, cost-efficient, high speed air transportation solutions - including FAA Part 135 on-demand air taxi travel- to help alleviate the noise and CO2 emissions challenges that accompany traditional internal combustion aircraft. 23 August 2019: "Kommunalforbundet Svenskt Ambulansflyg" (KSA) has obtained six Pilatus PC-24s in a fully equipped air ambulance configuration.
These PC-24s will offer aeromedical care across Sweden from 2021. The aircraft has been selected after an extremely intensive selection process Oscar J. Air Canada's fleet of Trent 700-powered Airbus A330s has attained over 700,000 flying hours till date. The first aircraft is now reaching approximately 20 years in service and this shows that the reliability and durability of the Trent 700 is unparallel. " US Air Force chooses Boeing for A-10 Thunderbolt II Re-Winging contract News In Brief. 22 August 2019: Boeing will continue its A-10 Thunderbolt II sustainment work under an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract received from the US Air Force (USAF), with a maximum ceiling value of $999 million.
According to the contract, Boeing will manage the production of a maximum of 112 wing sets and spare kits. The USAF ordered 27 wing sets immediately at contract award. "Boeing is honoured to be selected to continue as the A-10 Thunderbolt II wing kit contractor," said Pam Valdez, Vice President of Air Force Services for Boeing Global Services. "Our established supply base, experience with the A-10 structures, and our in-depth knowledge of the US Air Force's requirements will help us deliver high-quality wings to meet the customer's critical need.
" Boeing will work with Korean Aerospace Industries and other key suppliers to deliver the first wing sets to Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. Asiana Airlines signs comprehensive component support contract with Lufthansa Technik AG Airlines. 21 August 2019: Asiana Airlines has signed an agreement with Lufthansa Technik AG for a comprehensive component support. According to the terms of the new agreement, Lufthansa Technik will provide Total Component Support for the entire fleet of Airbus A320 family aircraft, including the A321neo version joining the fleet in the future. The ten-year contract began in July 2019 and covers a maximum of 79 aircraft. The contract has the provision for being converted from an integrated Total Component Support agreement including pooling to a Total Component Maintenance (TCM) closed-loop component repair and overhaul support in the mid-term.

20 August 2019: Duncan Aviation will now offer NDT mobile services for aircraft operators. Duncan Aviation's in-house NDT teams provide eddy current, fluorescent penetrant, ultrasonics, and magnetic particle inspections on all makes and model aircraft, including helicopters. Duncan Aviation's capabilities consist of authorised Dassault NDT in the Western Hemisphere. There are only a few facilities that have been trained and authorised to meet the stringent Falcon NDT requirements.
To ensure proficiency, Dassault limits the number of Falcon NDT technicians that are certified. There are 22 Dassault-certified NDT technicians in the Western Hemisphere and five come from Duncan Aviation.
