District 203 to make elemental shift in science. The science curriculum at all Naperville District 203 schools will be evolving in the upcoming years because of the new Next Generation Science Standards.
A team of administrators and teachers has outlined for the District 203 School Board the team’s efforts to bring the district’s science curriculum from kindergarten through high school in alignment with the standards that were adopted by the Illinois State Board of Education earlier this year. The district already has implemented the Common Core State Standards for English/language arts and mathematics. The science standards, which are aligned to Common Core, is an effort by 26 states to encourage more students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Jennifer Donatelli, a project manager in Learning Services who is a part of the curriculum team, said the new standards incorporate more engineering and technology design into science education.
