Ltd. (HMSI) which has set its eyes on 6 million units sales in FY’2017-18, has started the first month of the financial year with a bang, achieving highest ever sales of 578,929 units, a growth of 34% in a single month. Domestic sales grew by 33% to 551,884 units, crossing the 5.5 lakh mark for the first time. HMSI sales of automatic scooters, where it is a clear leader, grew by 40% to reach a new peak of 368,618 units, in the process crossing the 3.5 lakh mark for the first time. Honda’s motorcycle sales were up 22% to 183,266 units , thereby becoming the new No. 2 player in the Indian motorcycle segment If these highs were not enough, HMSI achieved its highest ever market share of more than 33% (domestic share 6% up) and 30.5% (domestic + export 5% up). The Noida-based veteran rallyist and his navigator Ajay Kumar were virtually unbeatable on each of the three days, conquering eight of the ten stages to pocket a major chunk out of the total prize money of Rs 10 lakh. On the third and final day too, he won the first three Special Stages before easing up on the last one. Panic stricken superbike dealers scramble to sell BS III bikes; Offer. The Supreme Court directive banning registration of BS III vehicles in the country from April 1, 2017 has forced superbike manufacturers to offer huge discounts of 5 to 7 per cent, apart from waiving off registration fees. This in essence means that superbike dealerships are offering discounts ranging in from Rs 75,000 to Rs 2 to Rs 3 lakh to clear their stock of BS III vehicles. A few top end brands are also facing another piquant situation—even if they manage to dispose of their existing fleet of BS III superbikes, they have no BS IV motorcycle to adorn their showrooms. “The new bikes will take at least a few months to come from abroad during which time my showrooms will have no motorcycles,” a superbike dealer said..
