If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces, never be afraid to pick one of those pieces up and begin again I tell you everything that is really nothing, and nothing of what is everything, do not be fooled by what I am saying. Please listen carefully and try to hear what I am not saying. You never know what is enough, until you know what is more than enough. Think like a man of action, act like a man of thought. Life has the name of life, but in reality it is death. To learn something new, take the path that you took yesterday. Whatever I take, I take too much or too little; I do not take the exact amount. The exact amount is no use to me. No matter where you go or what you do, you live your entire life within the confines of your head. If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one. Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet. One day, someone showed me a glass of water that was half full. And he said, "Is it half full or half empty?" So I drank the water. No more problem. I slept with faith and found a corpse in my arms on awakening; I drank and danced all night with doubt and found her a virgin in the morning. You can see a lot by just looking. Who depends on another man's table often dines late. When the pain is great enough, we will let anyone be doctor. A thousand men can't undress a naked man. How often one sees people looking far and wide for what they are holding in their hands? Why! I am doing it myself at this very moment. Because they know the name of what I am looking for, they think they know what I am looking for! Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought. Give thanks for what you are now, and keep fighting for what you want to be tomorrow. You can tell more about a person by what he says about others than you can by what others say about him. Tough and funny and a little bit kind: that is as near to perfection as a human being can be. The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra. Don't look where you fall, but where you slipped. I thought growing up was something that happened automatically as you got older. But it turns out it's something you have to choose to do. If you have to do it every day, for God's sake learn to do it well. Never explain. Your friends do not need it and your enemies will not believe it anyway. One should always play fair when one has the winning cards. Giving up doesn't always mean you are weak. Life is like riding a bicycle - in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving. The biggest problem in the world Could have been solved when it was small. Be the master of your fate, be the captain of your soul, but do not hesitate, should the chance befall you, to be the slave of your heart. Just be ordinary and nothing special. Eat your food, move your bowels, pass water, and when you're tired, go and lie down. The ignorant will laugh at me, but the wise will understand. Never make your home in a place. Make a home for yourself inside your own head. You'll find what you need to furnish it - memory, friends you can trust, love of learning, and other such things. That way it will go with you wherever you journey. When you lose, don't lose the lesson. Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are. I used to believe that anything was better than nothing. Now I know that sometimes nothing is better.

5 Ways To Hack Your Brain Into Awesomeness

There are probably secrets the brain simply doesn't want us to know. But by no means should that stop us from tinkering around in there, using somewhat questionable and possibly dangerous techniques to make our brains do what we want. We can't vouch for any of these, either their effectiveness or safety. All we can say is that they sound awesome, since apparently you can make your brain... #5. So you just picked up the night shift at your local McDonald's, you have class every morning at 8am and you have no idea how you're going to make it through the day without looking like a guy straight out of Dawn of the Dead, minus the blood... hopefully.

"SLEEEEEEEEEP... uh... What if we told you there was a way to sleep for little more than two hours a day, and still feel more refreshed than taking a 12-hour siesta on a bed made entirely out of baby kitten fur? Holy Shit!

The Psychology of Relationships. PsyBlog The Psychology of Relationships In life there’s hardly anything as difficult as going it alone; having someone to lean on can make even the bitterest of life’s blows tolerable.

The Psychology of Relationships

Research even suggests that relationships are as vital to our health as good nutrition and regular exercise, perhaps more so (see: health benefits of relationships). Human relationships have an incredible complexity and variety which psychologists have only just begun to fathom. The Misconception: You do nice things for the people you like and bad things to the people you hate.

The Benjamin Franklin Effect

The Truth: You grow to like people for whom you do nice things and hate people you harm. Benjamin Franklin knew how to deal with haters. Born in 1706 as the eighth of 17 children to a Massachusetts soap and candlestick maker, the chances Benjamin would go on to become a gentleman, scholar, scientist, statesman, musician, author, publisher and all-around general bad-ass were astronomically low, yet he did just that and more because he was a master of the game of personal politics. Like many people full of drive and intelligence born into a low station, Franklin developed strong people skills and social powers.

All else denied, the analytical mind will pick apart behavior, and Franklin became adroit at human relations. Franklin’s prospects were dim. At 17, Franklin left Boston and started his own printing business In Philadelphia. What exactly happened here? Let’s start with your attitudes. Brain. Welcome to the pycortex WebGL MRI viewer!

Brain

This viewer shows how information about thousands of object and action categories is represented across human neocortex. The data come from brain activity measurements made using fMRI while a participant watched hours of movie trailers. Computational modeling procedures were used to determine how 1705 distinct object and action categories are represented in the brain. Further details on this work can be found in this video or in the paper by Huth, Nishimoto, Vu and Gallant (2012), "A continuous semantic space describes the representation of thousands of object and action categories across the human brain", Neuron 2012.
