Felt Letters for Clementine’s Room

They had been sewn and stuffed months ago but I had this idea that they would all hang individually from the tension wire that holds up her curtains and then when I tried it and realized they would spin around and half of the letters would be backwards I gave up and for months there’s been a hanging “Cle” in her room with a backwards “e.” The solution ended up being a strand of clear thread which runs through the letters and is looped at the ends so it can hang from nails. And now I’m so geeked about how cool this turned out that I look for excuses to wander into the nursery and stare at it.

I will freely admit that the idea for these letters was not mine. I saw similar letters featured in Small Magazine last year and now it is driving me nuts that I just wasted a half hour looking for the page I saw them on and can’t find it. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. WREN handmade

We started construction on December 16 and finished somewhere around March 9, that's for what was supposed to be a "very simple" kitchen renovation. No ripping out cabinets or knocking down walls just multiple damaged deliveries and things not fitting like we planned. But now that it's done we are so happy with it and it's just in time because I am due April 1st and could give birth anytime now. We designed it ourselves using Google Sketch Up. It was tedious but allowed us to get a feel for the space and see what could fit. I'll try to give some details in case anyone is dreaming or planning on their own kitchen remodel. The countertops are soapstone, the farmhouse sink from Franke. The floor is Marmoleum in spa from Green Depot. The Hoosier cabinet we found at an antique mall in Ohio on vacation and had it shipped cross country.

This is the view looking out toward the rest of our main floor. Kase-faz. Kup Kup Land. Plush-a-holic. Effunia. Quinn Knits a Twisted Yarn. The finishing off is taking forever.

But it's important that every detail is thought through, how each piece might be displayed and providing hanging options if appropriate, labeling, what size and where? , tags, product information, materials used, documenting...so important to get the photos right, not just of a good quality but do they express the character of the piece as I would want it to be seen? Business cards, packaging & postage, and of course pricing, always difficult with work that is so labour intensive. Then there is promoting and selling, where is best, on line, art & craft fairs, local shops, london shops, art galleries, should I approach magazines and if so which ones?

My head is spinning. Below is my work table at home, I also need to schedule some time to move everything back to my studio. PlushYou! WindBag and Thunder. RevoluzZza.
