Quelque 64 œuvres ont été retenues parmi les 369 adressées au jury – composé d’artistes, de conservateurs, d’enseignants et de journalistes – chargé de définir et de piloter l’exposition. Le thème soumis aux participants de cette 9e édition était énoncé sous la forme d’une question : « Avec ou sans eau ? ». Libre à chacun d’en livrer son interprétation tout en respectant quelques principes relatifs aux matériaux utilisés et aux dimensions, rigoureusement restreintes. Contact> Avec ou sans eau? By taking old, broken, or abandoned skateboards, he repurposes them for his artwork. We've featured his stellar pieces before, and now he's back with some more incredible recycled skateboard deck works. The new set features astounding and colorful carvings of a fire hydrant, a full length arm, an enormous skateboard wheel, a playable guitar, and an unfinished dog head. Loving the dog sculpture where the back has been left unfinished and the jagged edges are sticking out, revealing the original material. These works were all recently displayed as part of the HUF x Haroshi x DLX collab collection.

As fans of Haroshi's recycled skateboard deck art, we've been waiting with bated breath to see more of his incredible pieces which are now currently on display at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. Although some were previously shown in Tokyo, and the SB Dunk sneakers were a NIKE commission, the rest are new, made specifically for this exhibition. Inspired by the city of New York, the colorful sculptures take the shape of everything from a bitten apple and tattooed teddy bear to a plump pigeon and wrapped "paper" bottle. (I want them all!) Crazy Kinetic Racetrack Sculpture is Coming

We just got word from LACMA that Chris Burden's epic racetrack sculpture will be make its press debut on Wednesday, January 11, and its public one on January 14. Called Metropolis II, it's a complex, large-scale kinetic structure that's modeled after a fast-faced modern city. Soon we'll all be able to witness 1,100 Hot Wheel-sized cars zip through and around model skyscrapers and trains. According to the LA Times, "There are 18 lines of traffic and you'll witness 100,000 cars passing through the system in an hour. " Trial runs began last week. "As you can imagine, this is a precision machine. The kid in us can't wait to see this in person.
