Where this argument usually ends, however, is on the question of whether or not fast food companies should be sued for making their patrons fat. Whereas some are convinced that people need to take personal responsibility for their food choices, others maintain that since fast food companies are aware of their food’s unhealthiness and are thus vulnerable to lawsuits. In his essay “Don’t Blame the Eater”, David Zinczenko believes the lack of notional information companies provide are to blame for consumers’ poor choices in food and that lawsuits against fast food companies will raise awareness about the link between fast food and obesity.
