Bronisław Kasper Malinowski ( Polish: [ˌmaliˈnɔfski] , English pronunciation: /ˈbrɒn əˌslɑf ˈkæs pər ˌmæl əˈnɔf ski/ [ note 1 ] ; [ 1 ] 1884–1942) was a Polish -born [ 2 ] British anthropologist , one of the most important 20th-century anthropologists. [ 3 ] [ 4 ] [ 5 ] [ 6 ] [ 7 ] He has been also referred to as a sociologist and ethnographer. [ 8 ] [ 9 ] From 1910, Malinowski studied exchange and economics at the London School of Economics under Seligman and Westermarck , analysing patterns of exchange in aboriginal Australia through ethnographic documents.

En 1994, il gagna la National Medal of Science pour ses contribution et fondation de la sociologie de la science [ 1 ] . Il développa de concepts notables tel les conséquences non-intendées et les groupes de références mais est mieux connu pour avoir créé les termes de rôles modèles et les prophéties auto-réalisatrices. Un élément central à la sociologie moderne, cette prophétie auto-réalisatrice est un procès où une croyance ou attente, correcte ou incorrecte, affecte le résultat de la situation ou la façon dont une personne ou un groupe se comportera.
