We are starting 2009 off in a particularly inauspicious economic climate, though as we’ll see, important opportunities also exist. 2008 was a very tough year for many businesses and industries and it’s almost as hard to see how things could get worse as it is to understand how things can get better. To survive and thrive , organizations will be looking to make the most of what they already have while gearing up to weather an unknown landscape of challenges this year. The enterprise 2.0 space saw good action this year. I’ve had a chance to see it up close, starting the year with BEA Systems (now Oracle) and closing out the year with Connectbeam . I think it’s fair to say that in 2007, social software was still something of a missionary sale. In 2008, company inquiries increased a lot.
