Stumbleupon I first met Erik du Plessis during his lecture in Amsterdam, where he talked about emotions in advertising. The event was held at Posthoornkerk, an imposing church that conferred the meeting an air of mystery and solemnity. I was keen to meet him, as I have been following his posts on different LinkedIn discussions, and he had a rather different approach to neuromarketing than most of the researchers there.
I was therefore very excited when he agreed to set up an interview the morning after the lecture, as this gave me the unique opportunity to pick his brain on some of the most important and controversial aspects of neuromarketing. Erik is the chairman of Millward Brown, South Africa and the author of two renowned books on advertising: “The Advertised Mind” and “The Branded Mind.”
He is a former visiting professor at the Copenhagen Business School — where he lectured on neuromarketing — and an avid observer of human behavior and the decision-making process. The Story of Bottled Water (2010) Always branding. always on. Ads Will Soon Follow You From One Device to the Next. Kamakshi Sivaramakrishnan calls herself an “advertising quant.” Most people with a PhD in her field of information theory are recruited onto Wall Street if they decide to leave the halls of academia, she says. She chose to go into advertising instead, and, with her startup, Drawbridge, is applying her expertise to a problem central to the bottom line of a wide swath of digital companies: how to make advertising pay as audiences move over to mobile devices. Founded in 2010, Drawbridge is using statistical methods that rely on anonymous data to track people as they move between their smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
The company’s technology has attracted attention both because of its high-profile backers—Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Sequoia Capital, two top Silicon Valley funders, have invested $6.5 million—and because it claims its approach will protect an individual’s privacy while also filling an important gap in the still-nascent mobile advertising technology market. This post originally appeared on the American Express OPEN Forum, where Mashable regularly contributes articles about leveraging social media and technology in small business. Are you among the one-third of small businesses in the U.S. using Twitter to promote your products and services? If so, you’re on the right track: Research from digital intelligence firm Compete shows Twitter followers are more than 60% more likely to visit your website and more than 50% more likely to make a purchase and recommend your company.
Many companies are content to allow Twitter accounts to grow organically, but some are looking to accelerate growth of their follower base and increase the reach of promotions. To that end, Twitter recently rolled out two new paid advertising options for small businesses, currently available via invitation: Promoted Accounts and Promoted Tweets. When Should I Use Promoted Accounts? “I just set a budget, and I constantly get 17 to 20 new followers each day,” says Ressler. Kenny It is hard to make it through a single day in recent months without running across a news outlet covering the massive revolution that smartphones are causing in our world today. There is little disagreement that mobile computing is having a radically disruptive impact on every corner of both business and consumer life, and on a global scale.
The latest evidence of this disruption: Facebook pays $1 billion for revenue-less, two-year-old mobile company Instagram with 13 employees, while 124-year-old camera and film manufacturer Eastman Kodak languishes in Chapter 11 bankruptcy with more than 17,000 employees globally. Worldwide smartphone activations now outnumber child births on a scale of three to one. Not surprisingly, it is consumer adoption of smartphones that is driving all of this disruption. A recent study found that it is harder to resist a new text message than a nicotine fix. John X. Marketers, Meet Moms on Social Networks. You see the same scene in any neighborhood with young families: mom pushing the stroller with one hand, clutching her smartphone with the other.
Through Pinterest, Facebook and other social platforms, she is likely using that phone to connect or gather information online. That moms are big-time social network users is demonstrated in study after study. eMarketer’s latest forecast shows that this year nearly 28 million moms will use social networks, representing a whopping 82% of mom internet users who have children under 18 in the household.
In February, a BabyCenter study further revealed how much more likely moms were to regularly use social media compared with the general population—80% vs. 55%, respectively. Additionally, moms were more likely than the general population to have over 200 friends and to “like” brands. Why is this demographic mad for social networks? A March survey of US mom internet users by Totsy verified BabyCenter’s conclusions.

Grafika pokazuje da neverovatnu količini brendova zapravo "drži" svega deset korporacija - Koka-Kola, Pepsiko, Dženeral Mils, Kelogs, Mars, Unilever, Džonson i Džonson, Prokter i Gembl, Nestle i Kraft.
