Jet Tila. Nancy Silverton's Hot Fudge Sauce. Featured on Bon Appetit's Blog Envy slideshow! Christmas is sneaking up on us unusually quickly this year. Or maybe it does this every year and every year I am surprised anew at how caught unawares I am. You'd think, by now, that the relentless reliability of it wouldn't quite discombobulate me so much, but it does. To make sure that gifts arrive before I take off for Berlin means I have to be done, really, with my shopping and crafting and noodling by - well - now.

And that's just a kick in the pants. I've taken to making at least a few of my gifts for people edible ones. Doesn't that sound like a lovely Christmas gift? This might possibly be one of my oldest clipped recipes. I love the high-sheen gloss on this stuff. Hot Fudge SauceMakes 2 cups 7 1/2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, cut into 2-inch pieces1/4 cup sugar1/2 cup light corn syrup1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons water3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder3/4 tablespoon instant coffee granules3 tablespoons Cognac or brandy 1. 2. 3. Banana Pudding Cheesecake. Is there any dessert more Southern than Nanner Pudding? Vanilla wafers, vanilla pudding, and bananas all put together to make one of the tastiest desserts you ever did put in your mouth. I can't get enough of it. I like to make it and I like to eat it.

No matter if you like meringue on top or whipped cream, it's all good in my book. Ingredients: 1 premade large graham cracker crust (2 extra servings)2 (8 oz.) blocks cream cheese, softened to room temperature 1 (3.4 oz) box banana cream instant pudding 2 eggs 1/2 cup sugar 2 ripe bananas, mashed 1/2 tbsp. fresh lemon juice 15 vanilla wafers (lemon not pictured) I'm using a larger graham cracker crust.

You'll want to look for one that says "2 extra servings" Directions: Preheat oven to 300F degrees. In the bowl of your stand mixer (or using a handheld electric mixer), combine cream cheese and sugar until smooth (about 2 minutes on medium speed). Add in eggs and mix until combined. In a separate bowl, mash up your bananas. Stir until combined. Lemon Coffee Cake. OMG Peach Crunch Cake. Dear Bakerella, Did you really come up with this peach crunch cake recipe? Because I think I love you. I mean, I really love you. Just five ingredients and my mouth is still watering.

This is seriously the easiest and most delicious thing I have made in a long time. I had to throw the "OMG" in the title because it's just that good. One can of peaches. Really that's it. Good thing today is my boss's birthday and I can bring this into work tomorrow or I just might ruin all of the progress I've made in my wedding diet. Look at all that ooey, gooey, peachy goodness at the bottom. And then the top is all brown sugary and crunchy. Make this cake/cobbler thing from Bakerella. Peach Crunch Cake (from Bakerella) 24.5 oz jar of sliced peaches in light syrup 1 package yellow cake mix 1 stick butter (1/2 cup), cut into 16 pieces 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (I used almonds, I bet pecans are good too, or you can skip the nuts too!)

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. PB & J Layered Ice Cream Terrine. It seems as if time is going by so quickly as of lately! Maybe it is because I am so busy, or maybe that is just what happens when we are no longer children and forget to pause and enjoy life. As of this week I have been working at my job in the deli for 6 years! Where did that time go? I feel like it was just yesterday when I was a shy 20 year old applying for a job there. So much has changed...in my life and there! When I began that job, I never would have thought that I would have a blog a few years later or have the skills in the kitchen that I have since learned (as I used to just work on the counter and not do any cooking).

Funny how life goes by so fast. Like peanut butter and jam. I had decided that I have made a lot of ice cream on this blog, but not done anything exciting with it besides ice cream sandwiches...so the terrine was perfect! I layered peanut butter (my favorite ice cream ever) with strawberry jam, strawberry ice cream and crunchy peanuts. Strawberry Ice Cream: Molten Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter Filling. Ever wondered what heaven looks like, feels like? If you believe there’s a heaven, that is. Heaven… I think about it all the time. I wonder whether or not I’d be allowed in. Heaven is all exclusive and whatnot, a little velvet rop-y.

Say you’re one of the selective few who can roll up in the clouds, past the pearlys and blessed to sport a cool pair of wings… What would that be like for you? What if you were free to make up your own heaven, much like Robin Williams in “What Dreams May Come”? What if you, yes you, were the designer of the place where your soul is to spend all eternity?

What would your heaven feel like, taste like? My heaven will feel like a good salsa song. Will feel like a four-man A capella group, harmonizing in perfect pitch. Will feel like the sunset that makes you hitch your breath with its beauty… Will feel like a booty dance, powerful in synchronized frenetic movement. Will taste like Wonka candies; hard, sweet, fruity sugar rush. Like a croissant – Flaky, warm and buttery. Beet Ice Cream. Eating beets has never been an attractive choice for me until now. I'll be honest: I made this ice cream for the color. That's all natural fuschia, my friends. Earthy and tart, beet ice cream is not your typical after-school special, but it's worth every spoonful (and the poppy seeds add a nice crunch!). Beet Ice Cream with Orange Zest and Poppy Seeds adapted from Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams at Home yields one generous quart Ingredients: 2 cups milk 4 teaspoons cornstarch 1 1/4 cups heavy cream 2/3 cup sugar 2 tablespoons light corn syrup 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt zest of 1 orange 3 tablespoons cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup puréed roasted red beets (two medium-sized beets will get the job done) 2 tablespoons poppy seeds Directions:For the roasted beets: Preheat oven to 450°F.

For the ice cream: In a bowl, stir together 1/4 cup milk and the cornstarch; set slurry aside. Place cream cheese in a bowl and pour in 1/4 cup hot milk mixture; whisk until smooth. Strawberry Souffle with That Skinny Chick Can Bake. This may be my final guest post for a while, and I can’t thank my blogging friends enough. Their generous help has allowed me to actually get ahead on recipes. Get ahead! I haven’t been ahead for so long now, I hardly know what to do!

This gorgeous dessert is brought to you by the ever-talented Liz of That Skinny Chick Can Bake. We’ve been “friends” for a while now, always following and supporting each other’s blogs, and I am so thrilled she was willing to participate. This souffle is just another example of her baking talents…and I am wondering if I can make it without sugar. I am so pleased that Carolyn asked me to guest post for her today. Instead of going totally decadent, I went with a slightly healthier choice. Soufflés are not as difficult as you might imagine. Strawberry Souffles with Fresh Berries Ingredients Instructions Butter six 8-ounce ramekins and dust with sugar. Notes Here are a few hints to make your soufflés perfect: Use a straight sided, oven safe dish. Rhubarb Strawberry Cobbler. Rhubarb Cardamom Oatmeal Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches. I have to admit, in the past when people have said "ice cream sandwich" I immediately thought of the ice cream sandwiches that were often given to me as a kid at picnics.

The ones with the soft chocolate cookies on the outside and vanilla ice cream in the middle. I never liked those, and so I was always wishing I had fudgesicle instead. To me the cookies on the outside were always soggy and the vanilla ice cream always tasted fake. As an adult I wouldn't touch one, but I have since learned that those are not the only ice cream sandwiches in the world. Afterall, I can create my own where there are no flavoring rules that say they have to be chocolate and vanilla. I was thinking that the roasted cardamom rhubarb ice cream in my freezer would be lovely sandwiched between two cardamom oat shortbread cookies. All I had to do was bake up some of those cookies I was dreaming about and I would be in ice cream sandwich heaven! Rhubarb Cardamom Oatmeal Cookie Sandwiches Makes 16 1/2 cup cornstarch.

Limoncello Pound Cake With Blueberry Sauce Recipe. Sunny Citrus Bars. Last month I had a giveaway for Baking Basics and Beyond cookbook, that Becca from Cookie Jar Treats won. We decided to pick a recipe and bake it "together". We both scanned the book and quickly settled on a recipe with bright refreshing flavors- Sunny Citrus Bars. Since both our mothers love citrus, we made these for them on Mother's Day.

I made a full pan and presented half of them to my mother and the other half to my mother-in-law. It's the perfect tangy treat for sharing. Sunny citrus bars are essentially lemon bars with a shortbread crust, but the filling includes tart lemon juice and zest as well and sweet and aromatic orange juice and zest. As far as lemon bars go, I think I prefer one with more pucker and these meyer lemon-lime bars are my still my favorite. For The Crust: 2 cups all-purpose flour1 cup powdered sugar3/4 cup cold butter For The Filling: For The Glaze: 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar2-4 Tablespoons orange juice Heat oven oven to 350 degrees F. with oven rack in the middle.

Homemade Salted Caramel Sauce. White Chocolate Mint Cake. Remember when I said how much I dislike white chocolate? (No?) That's good. Because I may be eating my words, literally... There is absolutely no reason why I should like this cake. It's extremely sweet, and there isn't a single drop of lemon, or a hint of dark chocolate. Perhaps I should give Brussels sprouts another try? When Jaclyn, of Celebrations asked if I would like to be part of a virtual Memorial Day potluck, I jumped at the chance!

(Hopefully not everyone eats dessert first.) Hungry yet? Ready for some cake love? This cake is smooth, creamy, sweet, and ohh so suave. Dark chocolate lovers, I hear you out there, and I am still in the club. It's close enough to Memorial Day, so I think it's perfectly okay to wear, and eat, anything white. White Chocolate Mint Cake adapted from Baked: New Frontiers in Baking yields 8-inch, round layer cake frosting ingredients 6 ounces white chocolate, coarsely chopped (try to use a high quality chocolate. Method Preheat the oven to 325 F. Peanut Butter Chocolate Layer Cake - Littleton Blog Posts - Foodbuzz. Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread with Secret Ingredient.

Can you guess what the secret ingredient is? *Quick note, I forgot to add earlier — after almost two years, I FINALLY figured out how to post my book, SOUP DAY, on the sidebar just days ago! Yes, I’m kind of technically challenged (or intimidated, shall we say?) Anyway, if you haven’t already, please check it out — I have almost reached my goal of selling enough copies for the sequel (another cooking related theme)– it’s a fun book for budding cooks! * OK, back to the regular scheduled blog post: Yesterday Jamie had a special play date with two friends. Approaching Radio City Music Hall near Times Square. Each month is a different theme, and each child gets to build the model and keep the original kit (while supplies last).

The staff there is incredibly nice and actually let the boys build their own construction using pieces in the bins for sale while waiting for the model build to begin! Plants v.s. If you are ever in the area, the Lego store is a fun visit. Non-stick spray 1 ½ cups flour. Foodbuzz. All Natural Almond Butter & Banana Ice Cream ~ an Earth Day Delight. Don't let what you can't do interfere with what you can do ~ John Wooden Today is Earth Day – a celebration of nature and an opportunity to enhance our awareness and appreciation of Mother Earth. Pan-Canadian events include earth day planting, litter clean-up & recycling (more affectionately known as a "Trash Bash"), meatless Monday challenges, tree talk & tours, local food challenges and, a personal favourite, earth day yoga in the park. One of the best ways to honour Mother Earth and support planetary sustainability, is to enjoy foods that are as close to nature as possible: whole foods found on the farm, in the orchards and in our gardens.

Natural foods provide the greatest concentration of nutrients for our bodies – vitamins, minerals, fibre, enzymes and antioxidants. Food doesn't have to be complicated (nor flavourless) to be good for you. Here is an example of a yumilicious snack/dessert that took me about 7 minutes to pull together (I exaggerate. Enjoy!
