Modafinil is an eugeroic drug generally prescribed to treat narcolepsy, made by the pharmaceutical company Cephalon. It is not a typical stimulant and is marketed as a "wakefulness promoting agent." With a doctor's prescription, you can buy modafinil with different commercial trade names: Modalert, ModaPro, Provigil (USA), Vigicer (Canada), Sparlon, Alertec. Modalert and ModaPro are the cheapest ones, by far. Off-label Modafinil Use? While modafinil is FDA-approved only for narcolepsy, OSAHS and SWSD, many physicians are prescribing it for patients who do not suffer from one of these conditions but exhibit similar symptoms.
