Per Barclay | 05.05 – 18.06 | 2011 Galleri MGM is pleased to present an exhibition featuring Per Barclay’s three most recent projects executed in Palermo, Paris and Lofoten. Barclay installed his first “oil room” in 1989. The new works are a continuation of his photographic project in which he has investigated the optical potential of architectural reflections in water, wine, milk and oil.

The artist employed oil in the works currently on view, the liquid he feels gives the optimal reflection while evoking volume instead of surface. Oil adds a contradictory note by being simultaneously unsettling and beautiful in its perfect reflection of forms and depths. These photographs address the contrast between beauty and ugliness, bringing forth the sublime within the extreme. The investigation of this duality is a repeated theme in Per Barclay’s production. The historical home of the respected publishing house, Flammarion, on Rue Visconti in Paris, was the starting point for Barclay’s project. The Goodness Regime | Kunsthall Oslo. Olso Kunstforening.

Runo Largomarsino. Sculpture Arena East "PCB. WUMM UND TWERNSEE. Home - Henie Onstad Art Centre. Arne Nordheim in the world of art: No “-isms” for me, please! - Henie-Onstad Kunstsenter. Arne Nordheim Triptych by Mike Cechanowicz Arne Nordheim’s art extends way beyond the confines of music. Throughout his life, he also worked closely with other art forms, such as theatre, fine arts, ballet, film, literature, architecture and installation art. In 1955, a journalist asked the young, up-and-coming composer: “What about the present, the future and -isms?” Arne Nordheim replied confidently: “No -isms for me, please!” He refused to be categorised as belonging to the traditional music and artistic canon. This retrospective exhibition shows how Nordheim’s 50-year long multidisciplinary and ground-breaking career lived up to this motto and established him as a key figure of Norwegian, post-war art.

This is the first opportunity to see his pioneering works in the fields of television art, sound sculpture, ballet, theatre, multimedia and sound installations, created in collaboration with Carl Nesjar, Arnold Haukeland, Per Kleiva, Glen Tetley, Bjørn Winsnes and Rolf Aamot. One of jewellerys special features is its close connection to the body. Anne Léger focuses on the connection between jewellery and the person wearing it ,and she invites the audience to take an active part in the exhibition. About: Anne Léger lives and works in Oslo. Works.
