T-shirt Refashion ... T-shirt necklaces... Since these little wonders are all over the blog world lately...I thought I would try my hand at my own t-shirt necklaces, using a few old t-shirts I picked up at goodwill for $1.50 each... Using my rotary cutter, I sliced off the bottom half of each shirt, then cut slits into them, being sure to not slice all the way to the seams... Then I opened the necklace up by separating the front and back, and using two extra fabric pieces, I wrapped the seams ...for a more detailed how-to...visit this lovely blog here. I am so pleased with the result..woohoo! I might still add a little embellishment to them...maybe some wooden beads like in the tutorial I linked to...but for now...I love them=) Here it is doubled up...

Anyone else try making these little beauties lately? Spray Painted T-Shirt with Doilies. My second son turned 17 last month and I was shopping with him at my home away from home Target. While looking at the men's clearance they had T-shirts on clearance for $2.48! They were either grey or yellow. Since yellow isn't a good color on me I bought a grey shirt that was a size larger than what I wear with the intent of altering it.

I started by cutting off some of the length of the sleeve. Next, I cut the neck line off and made it larger. Now comes the spray paint and doilies. Lay the doilies onto the shirt for placement. I wanted a layered look so I laid some extra fabric under the doilies where I didn't want the spray paint to go through. You will want to spray about 10" away from the shirt in a light sweeping motion. Continue to cover up any areas that you don't want to get spray paint on and move the doilies around to finish your design. I sprayed the shirt 3 times but figured it need a little more. I sprayed a few more times and even sprayed some on the sleeve. DIY T-Shirt Infinity Scarf + Head Wrap (no sew!) - Henry HappenedHenry Happened. 23 things to make from old t-shirts.

Today, I am tackling my kid's wardrobes and culling their clothes right back to basics. I've been so very, very lucky to have received a lot of hand-me-downs for both of them over the years and I quite happily accept them. Probably when they were little and at home, I might've gone through 2 or 3 sets of clothes, espcially after meal times or toilet training mishaps. Now they are both at school, I'm finding they don't need as many clothes. For five days, they wear their school uniform, changing into play clothes when they get home and they might only have them on for an hour or so before bath time, so they wear them again for a couple days. It's cut back on washing and wear and tear on the clothes.
