" She cut up an old catalog, glued squares of it to some newspaper, and then ironed adhesive vinyl on the front. She lined it with scrap satin, and made faux crocodile out of painted duct tape. Here's a photo of an original crocodile skin Hermes Birkin bag. It's 2010 and a year of new beginnings. Thank heavens for those, I know I need them. This year we are starting chores. I want to make them exciting and I want to have my boys feel like they are actually rewarded for helping out. However, I am not really into the whole allowance thing. So with a great idea from a good friend I created a reward chore board. Use a t-shirt that doesn't quite work for you and therefore sits in your drawer unworn, but that initially had high hopes for when you got it. Or, if you don't have any t-shirts to sacrifice, check out your local thrift store, or the clearance racks at your favorite clothing store. Project estimate: Doilies ($1 each) = $3 or so Old t-shirt = free. Toddler Bathrobe from Dishtowels! | Dollar Store Crafts. IMG_6525.JPG (JPEG Image, 640x427 pixels) Falling Leaves Knit Dress. I had a lot of fun making this dress & you wouldn't believe how easy it was!

I took a long sleeve tee from my closet that I never wear & a looser fitting simple dress from my daughters closet. Next I folded my shirt in half and laid her dress over it so the middle of the dress hit the fold mark & the bottom was I little higher than the bottom of my tee (I wanted this dress a little longer than the one I was using as a pattern). The dress I was using as a pattern is sleeveless but the edge hit her shoulder right where a sleeve should start. I cut around the dress about a quarter of an inch out making sure I was out to the existing side seam at the point where I wanted the belt to go. The reason I did this was my tee I was using was a really tight fitting tee so it was already small enough at the bottom for the skirt part of the dress & it had a cool serging detail along the sides that I wanted to show on the bottom half of the dress.

My husband LOVES this dress! Linking to these parties. .MY DIY PROJECTS AND TUTORIALS. Tee Tuesday - Rose Petal Dress Giveaway. I made this dress with two things from the dollar store. A link pink girls t-shirt (size 12/14) & a bag of white rose petals. I bought two of each so I have extra for a giveaway! I can make any size from newborn up to 4t. You can enter up to three times the following ways: 1. leave a comment 2. become a follower & leave a comment letting me know (or if you're already a follower) 3. Link back to my giveaway & leave a comment letting me know where you linked back from. I will announce a winner on Monday! Now for the tutorial: Cut the neckline about twice as big as you want it to end up.

Turn the shirt inside out & sew up both sides until you hit the curve (this is the sleeve part). Try it on the child or compare to a dress that fits them. Turn back right side out & sew one more line with elastic thread just above the waist line to cinch in the waist a little bit more. If you have any questions just let me know! Search diy on English.

Kids. Ah...it is the weekend. It has been such a great week. In fact it has been one of those weeks to where I want to stand up on a large hill and declare my deep satisfaction of being a Mom...do you know that feeling? In fact, my heart has swelled so many times that I thought it would just burst. I really appreciate the opportunity to have the influence of such sweet little children in my home. I mean I can not even begin to express my deep gratitude for this opportunity in life...it really is a miracle. I often marvel how one day I really think I am getting this whole life with kids and then the next day I am ready to throw the towel in...so weird how things shift so quickly around here.
