Benjamin Lacombe - L'Herbier des Fées. Morphology. I Paint. Keep Drawing. Directed by Ha Juan, Keep Drawing is the latest rotoscopic animation to come out of Seoul-based Studio Shelter. As a pseudo-tribute to animation artists around the world, the message of persistence is expressed through both the narrative and impeccable detail of the animated short film. Each frame introduces the audience to a unique character, in a different artistic style, and depicted using a varying medium. Switching between pencils, markers, pens and paint, the animation is magnificently coherent and powerfully captures both the frustrations and rewards of drawing. Keep Drawing encapsulates the patience, persistence and degree of creativity behind an art-form so often only appreciated by die-hard anime fans.
