Productivity may be our main focus here at Lifehacker, but that doesn't mean we don't like to kick back with a good video game once in a while (after all, they're more than just an entertaining time sink ). This weekend, take a break and de-stress with some of your favorite games (and some tweaks to make them better). Break Out the Ol' Console Okay, it doesn't necessarily have to be old , but the quickest way to get up and running (or shooting, or slaying, or portal gunning) is with a good old fashioned console and controller. Of course, there are any number of things that could get in your way.

'Evoland' is a playable history of gaming, from 8-bit to HD
When you first start playing Evoland , it doesn't look all that impressive. The pixelated visuals are lacking in color, and there isn't even any sound — it's like an original GameBoy game blown up to the size of your monitor. But as you play, you'll not only unlock new items and abilities like in most games, but also new features that bring Evoland closer to the present. Essentially you're playing through the modern history of games, going from an 8-bit black-and-white world all the way to detailed 3D — you'll even have to unlock modern conveniences like the ability to save. Evoland started its life at the Ludum Dare game jam, an online contest where developers attempt to build a game around a particular theme in just 48 hours. For Ludum Dare 24 that theme was evolution.

On the off chance you missed it last year, Skyrim is an immersive RPG in which you assume the role of the Dragonborn and must save the realm while traveling the world and completing countless quests. Bethesda announced their creation kit for Skyrim months as a way for players to create their own game mods store and distribute them freely through the Steam digital distribution service. Hasbro Lazer Tag hands-on (video)
The NERF has been dropped, but Hasbro's Lazer Tag system is still the same awesome toy we got a taste of in February. The difference is, now they're retail ready. Individual blasters, complete with iDevice dock, will hit shelves in just over a week, while packages of two are scheduled for October 1st. The companion iOS app is already available through iTunes, but a rep from Hasbro still describes it as being in beta form (an update is on its way that will remove that tag and simplify the initial set-up).

I enjoy all of the LEGO video games, but I’m genuinely excited about LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes for an entirely different reason. For the first time ever, a LEGO game will feature an open world that you can explore and play through however you like. Gotham City has never been so gloriously blocky as in LEGO Batman 2 , but I can’t help wondering if the designers over at TT Games saw all the fun that Rocksteady Games was having crafting a huge, open world for Arkham City , and thought, “Hey, why can’t we do that?” From this brand new trailer and screenshots, it sure looks like a marriage of Arkham City and LEGO — with a cast of playable superheroes ripped out of DC Comics’ most popular titles. You and a co-op Robin will be able to explore Gotham on foot or using the ever-reliable Batmobile, and other Bat-themed vehicles.

Gameloft's free fantasy hack-and-slash game, Dungeon Hunter 3, now lets players team up or duke it out online with new co-op and competitive multiplayer modes. As usual, you chose one of multiple standard classes, and defend against waves of monsters for as long as your weapons, armor, and powers will allow you. As with most of Gameloft's free titles, this one's rife with in-app purchases, but I never found them particularly intrusive in the time that I put into Dungeon Hunter 3.
