Hurricane Sandy: View From Above - Interactive Feature. Archives par catégorie : Round Up #88.
When Ticketmaster CEO Nathan Hubbard and his new executive team hit the road earlier this year touting a more innovative and fan-focused company -- the Turnaround Tour, we dubbed it in the July/August issue -- one stat was a guaranteed show-stopper. Each time a ticket buyer shared with Facebook friends that he was attending an event, Hubbard said, that alert generated $5.30 in additional ticket revenue. Then he showed clients the next stage of social commerce, a mock-up of an arena seat map indicating where a customer's Facebook friends were sitting. "Don't you want to know," he'd ask the crowd, "if any of your friends are going to the same show? At the client meeting in Orlando, a Miami Dolphins executive arched his eyebrows while studying the map, turned to his colleague and whispered, "This is sick.
" Starting today, you can see what the fuss was about. Now you can have an even more customized ticket search. "This isn't just about social," Hubbard says of the seat tagging. A propos. Foursquare Revamps Brand Pages: Now Do-It-Yourself. Today, Foursquare launched a new version of Pages. The update allows anyone to sign up for a brand page that can push tips and check-ins to followers on Foursquare, as well as to Facebook and Twitter. Foursquare lets users add new locations to the service, but, until today, there was no good way for most places to actively reach out to users, unless their owners waded through a daunting application process for a brand page. Until now, Foursquare brand pages have been subject to manual approval by a large team. Now, all a brand page needs is a Twitter account for authentication. Yelp location pages are rich in information, and reviews and quick tips from members help keep them up to date and relevant. Check out Foursquare's new Page Gallery for examples.
What Does Social Media Mean for the Future of Mortality? With 48 hours of video being uploaded to YouTube every minute, 200 million tweets being posted every day and the average Facebook user creating 90 pieces of content each month, this generation is publishing an unprecedented amount of data that will live in the cloud indefinitely — even after we’re gone.
Back in July at TED Global in Edinburgh, Scotland (which I also covered for Mashable), I gave a 5-minute talk about the implications that the social media boom will have on the future of mortality, and what might become possible as technology’s ability to understand and process the hundreds of thousands of pieces of content we’re creating in our lifetimes continues to grow exponentially. In my talk, I discussed a number of services that are already emerging for figuring out what happens to our online identity and social media accounts after we die, as well as a couple of examples of how people are already planning their digital legacy. The performer's super-short teasers for her new video "Hold It Against Me," seem to be building some buzz and getting her name circulated again. According to YouTube, the teasers have been getting good traffic despite their short length and are building interest for the video's release on Thursday.
For instance, a 5-second teaser (embedded below) released on February 4 has gotten close to 2.5 million hits on YouTube so far, despite offering no music and little coherency. Meanwhile, the 11 clips she's released since then — all of similar length — have gotten a total of 10 million views, according to YouTube Trends. The video tease came after Spears released the audio of "Hold It Against Me" back in January, a clip that has so far gotten 5 million views. Spears's consistent release of new material also helped maintain her position as the top Twitter Trend topic last week. What do you think? Where to get it ? Your up-to-date fashion shopping guide.

In Social Media, Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail. InShare567 I’ve received many inbound requests for comments based on a report from Gartner, an IT analyst firm, that estimates as many as 70-percent of social media campaigns will fail in 2011. There are a series of discussions hitting the blogosphere and the Twitterverse exploring this very topic, some elementary and others on the right path. I contacted Gartner earlier this week and the problem is, that this data isn’t new at all. In fact, these discussions are fueled by information originally published in 2008 and in early 2010.
Are many of the social media programs in play yielding tangible results? No… Are they designed to impact the bottom line or are they tied to meaningful business outcomes? The truth is that you can’t fail in anything if success is never defined. eMarketer recently published a report, “Social Media in the Marketing Mix: Budgeting for 2011,” that documents the increase in social media spend we knew was imminent.
Source Related posts: Google tracks you. We don't. An illustrated guide.
