Editor’s Note: We’ve since expanded our life list to 43 sites around the world for wildlife lovers, adventure seekers and those seeking just a respite from their busy schedules. "We are all of us resigned to death: it's life we aren't resigned to," novelist Graham Greene once wrote. A growing number of Americans of all ages are embracing that idea by renewing a resolve to live life to its fullest.

Exhibit A is the recent popularity of "life lists"—itineraries of things to do and places to go before taking the ultimate trip to the Great Beyond. Bookstores brim with titles such as 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, 1001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die and—for the high-minded—Fifty Places to Go Birding Before You Die. A cottage industry of Web sites has also popped up, enabling life list enthusiasts to exchange ideas ranging from learning Japanese to getting a tattoo. Whether you visit only a couple of these destinations or all 28, your life will be enriched by the experience.

National Palace Museum - 100 Museums to Visit Before You Die. Museums aren't just for people who love art and design. In truth, a museum is a place for anyone who's broadly interested in culture, whether it be their own or that of another people, country, or era. The "museum" is simply the building or vessel from which history, including the history of the present, is contained. Most museums aren't just for browsing artworks and getting a souvenir at the gift shop, though. Many are often a sight to marvel at from outside, featuring architecture that even casual observers can appreciate. Many have community-focused activities, including concerts and workshops, and many more are free of charge or have days where admission is waived.

Some on this list are as specific as the Museum of Transportation, the Titanic Museum, and the Simone Handbag Museum, and some are as broad as the Tokyo National Museum and the de Young Museum. If you haven't already gotten the point, a museum can be a fascinating place, and no one is the same as the next. Places to See Before You Die. Dishtip: What to eat and where. Diary of a Wanderlust | Best travel booking websites that you’ve probably never heard of. Hello from snowy Stockholm, Sweden! This past week my mom and I traveled to 6 different countries, stayed in 5 hotels, booked 2 rental cars, took 5 flights, and 4 buses. Sounds super overwhelming and complicated, I know, but through various booking websites, I was able to easily set all of this up through my cell phone only two weeks in advance (some the day of) without having to go through a travel agent!

AND got great deals! More and more, online travel sites are taking the place of traditional travel agencies. We all know about websites like Orbitz, CheapTickets and Travelocity that work with airlines and hotels to get the lowest prices down to the last minute. Some sites act as a search engine for travel, while others list their own prices with booking fees and taxes included. Many sites give you an option to compare prices with larger sites, so you can catch the best deals no matter where you start your search. Booking.com I book almost all of my hotel stays through booking.com.

TOP 100 Travel Sites. Top 100 Independent Travel Blogs and Websites: Volume 41 We’re Back… with some Changes Fist of all, I apologize for the delay in updating this list. I think it’s been nearly four months since I did an update. The truth is that I’ve been insanely busy. Between my travel magazine, Brendan’s Adventures, my new Youtube travel video channel, and the fact that I’m travelling through West Africa where access to the internet isn’t exactly on every corner, well, let’s just say keeping up has been a struggle.

Still, I know how important this list is to some of you so I’ve made sure that I set aside a couple days aside to do the update it again. I’ve made some slight changes to the list but nothing major. What Changes were Made? The truth is that most of the changes won’t be seen here on the top of the list but at the bottom. I decided to chop out any site with an alexa score under 1,000,000. The following is a guest post from regular contributor, Sharon at Mom of 6. This summer I’m planning something bold, daring, and a little bit over-the-top! I’m going to take my six kids on a 4-week 8000-mile road trip out to see “the Great American West”! We’re planning on heading from New York out to Colorado and then onto Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Missouri and back. It’s going to be an amazing experience- but boy do I need to be organized to pull something like this off! So today I want to share with you one of my very favorite tools that I use all of the time to store ideas, make lists, and keep notes. What is Evernote?

Using Evernote to Store Your Vacation Plans Start by creating a separate notebook within Evernote and name it “Vacation Plans” or “Florida Trip”, etc. Distance To Travel: Time Zone of Our Destination: Itinerary: Organiser vos photos de vacances. Did you ever have to write that “What I Did on My Summer Vacation” essay? I don’t know if it’s still required, but historically, it’s one of the first assignments given to students upon their return to school. It’s a great exercise to develop writing and communication skills, foster creativity around storytelling, and help kids organize their thoughts and ideas into something both structured and comprehensible. The same can apply to photos you’ve taken during any time off. Whether you traveled around the world or enjoyed a staycation with family and friends, you’ll want to organize your photos for ease and accessibility. Here are some tips to help you create a compelling photo album that is fun, creative, and answers the question, “What I did on my vacation”: Use Folders, Tags, and Keywords — Why organize?

So you can have easy access to your pictures, right? Make a Photo Book — Select the best of your photos, and create a photo book with the help of a site like Blurb. —By Jonathan Long.
