Brainstorming can be a powerful way to discover incredible new ideas and take your life and your business in incredible new directions. It can also, however, be an exercise in futility if not handled properly. A disorganized and untrammeled brainstorming session can, at its worst, lead to total chaos, confusion, frustration, and despair. Fortunately it’s easy to avoid this possibility, as there are very few key elements that keep a brainstorming session on track. http://business.solveyourproblem.com/brainstorming/start-brainstorming.shtml

Scamper - Creativity tools from MindTools.com

This is where creative brainstorming techniques like SCAMPER can help. This tool helps you generate ideas for new products and services by encouraging you to think about how you could improve existing ones. You use the tool by asking questions about existing products, using each of the seven prompts above. These questions help you come up with creative ideas for developing new products, and for improving current ones. Alex Osborn, credited by many as the originator of brainstorming, originally came up with many of the questions used in the SCAMPER technique.

Business creativity and brainstorming articles

When we are trying to dream up ideas for a particular problem, we have a tendency to look at the limitations and focus our ideation on ideas that meet the demands of our limitations. In short, we only consider ideas that come within the “good ideas” portion of our realm of ideas. Ideas that do not make it into the good ideas realm are often rejected immediately. That is not a good idea! In fact, it is squelching your imagination and restricting the creative potential of your ideas.
