Malgré des violences survenues notamment dans les provinces du Katanga et des Kasaï, la population semble s’être déplacée en masse pour y participer. Le jour même du scrutin, on dénonce des fraudes qui apparaissent grossières : bourrages d’urnes, découvertes de bulletins remplis auparavant, bureaux de vote dépourvus de matériel électoral, électeurs votant plusieurs fois, bulletins incomplets en l’absence du nom du candidat Tshisekedi à Mbuji-Mayi (Kasaï).
