There were many more, but they did not make the cut when I'd set my criteria in stone. These recipes can also be used by anyone who wants to start of a local physical archive (maybe in your school, community center, research group or library). Crafting this basic collection will teach you the foundational techniques that many other recipes will build upon, and require you to collect the basic tools and ingredients you will need. By making this archive starter of material samples, you will learn some of the most important techniques to start your own R&D lab for design materials and you will have a variety of physical forms (solids, sheets, composites) to build upon.

Clara Davis This BioBags collection, created by Clara Davis from the FabTextiles at Fab Lab Barcelona, is an environmental project about how to replace plastic bags and daily life packaging with biodegradable materials. A plastic bag takes about 450 years to disintegrate in nature. Those three BioBags, made with gelatin base bioplastic are completely biodegradable. It takes about one week to dissolve completely in the water. Gelatin base bioplastic is a recipe with 100% natural ingredients : 78% of water, 16% of gelatin and 6% of glycerol. For now the problem is still the price of creation, too high to considerate the BioBags collection just like simple packaging.

Constructing the loom took about 3 weeks. I hand made it with the following materials: timbermetal pinsmetal nailsalgae yarn I secured Cecilia's micro-loom with wool to begin experimenting with weaving human hair, and my original loom design drawing. Adobe Illustrator file for pinhole stencil that I laser cut from raw fabric. To begin understanding a loom, a wove a miniature loom with wool and began attempting to weave human hair through it. I designed a stencil for the pin holes of the loom that run along the bottom and top sides.

Development I used the shape of the seaweed farming beds as design inspiration for my loom. I started by sketching up a design of a scaffold on A3 paper. This is what I ended up with.
