Ensure internal adoption with end-user training. This week we'll learn about the importance of end-user training. In February, I'll write about modules you can use to customize the editor user experience in Drupal, and some news about initiatives in Drupal to improve the content administrator experience. Say you’ve built or purchased a flexible, extensible application with Drupal. Because Drupal is highly malleable, it’s likely a wholly unique custom system.

A downside is that this leaves end users at a loss in terms of self-teaching. They may be inclined to simply search for “Drupal” tutorials, yielding an array of irrelevant information. There's no doubt that Drupal 7 has greatly improved user experience, yet once you begin to customize it with new content types with multiple fields and custom workflows, it becomes another application altogether. Thousands of people online now! Assembling Pages with Drupal. As with many facets of Drupal, and coding in general, there are multiple ways to accomplish the same task. A good exmple of this was with the recent additions to the Lullabot team. The expanded team brought together three skilled developers and an amazing designer each with their own methods of site building. On one side we have Jerad Bitner and myself, who for the past few years have been building sites exclusively with Panels module.

On the other side we have James Sansbury and Jared Ponchot who also build beautiful sites using the more recent Context module. Our first collaboration was the redesign of Lullabot.com, since this project was initially designed and scoped by James and Jared, the decision to use Context module was already in place. There is some overlap of terminology which will occur. What is a Page? How does Drupal build a page? Blocks "Blocks are the boxes visible in the sidebar(s) regions of your Drupal website. Drupalcon London - Drupal Estimation Techniques BoF | Bluespark Labs. Here are the notes from the Drupal Estimation Techniques discussion I organized at Drupalcon London. Feel free to share :) I want to thank Drupalcon organizers for making this possible -- we really appreciate all the effort that went into the creation of this conference and its BoFs. Second, thanks to Jakob Persson (Co-founder & Web Strategist at NodeOne) for co-chairing and to everyone who came to share their ideas and experiences with the group.

We all had a lot to say, hopefully some presentations for Denver will come out of this! We asked a series of questions at the beginning of the BoF hoping to spark conversation. The goal of this BoF was to understand the challenges the participants face, and how they addressed them (successfully and unsuccessfully). Q: What makes Drupal estimation different from non-framework development? Q: What kind of projects are people estimating right now? Top responses were: => Fixed bid: this seemed to be the most common response.
