Cosy cottages in the land of seals à Hvammstangi. Very cute little cottages in a pretty location - very easy to find from town as clearly signposted. We needed somewhere to stay as a stop on a long road trip and this was the perfect place - could check in at any time as it is self-service with the door lock mechanism, and Rakel clearly gives you all the information you need. I booked very last minute (late, the night before) and had a reply by the morning. Inside, the cottages are very cute, with everything you would need - we cooked 2 meals easily in the kitchenette.
Only improvement would be if there was a bit of oil/basic condiments provided in the kitchen or cooking, as if you do not have these, then there are not many shops in the town which stay open late, and it can be expensive to buy these for a few nights' usage. That being said, we managed to buy some oil and salt off the gas station/ice-cream shop in town, which was very kind of them! Comfy beds and nice shower. Dalvík Cottage/cabin I à Dalvik. Our cosy little red cabins are situated near our home at the south entrance of Dalvík village. Ideal for small families, bird watchers or who ever wants to relax away from big town noise. Close to Grímsey ferry port, whale watching and hiking routes! Our cabins are situated in a small village, a busy one but quiet. Fitting for 3 adults...or a couple with a child/youngster (or two young children...send us a request about if you fit in there!). Because of no shower our guests are invited free access to the local swimming pool which is nearby...200m. We love chatting and helping our guests on what ever they like to seek in the area...events, hiking routes or just to know where the local grocery store is! We are hard working people who have grown up in a typical fishing village. Buses from Akureyri - we arrange a pick up in Akureyri or Siglufjörður/Ólafsfjörður for a reasonable price.
