It really looked like it was going to storm earlier this afternoon, but the sun decided to stay for the rest of the day. Look at what just landed at @goinggear. A quarter of the way there! EDC. Sexy Yeast. Choosing an Optic For my AR15 dissipator build, I have been having serious issues with deciding on an optic. I sold my Millett DMS-1, because it was heavier and bigger than I wanted, and I am going to using this rifle primarily for home defense and training, so I don’t need its capabilities. I then thought about getting a Trijicon ACOG TA33, but with the cost, and problem of washing out indoors, as well as the fact that, while the Bindon Aiming Concept is good, a red dot would be faster for close quarters (such that are found in HD roles).

So, I went to the idea of getting an Aimpoint R-1 Micro, which is the same as the H-1, just not painted, for $345, then probably go for a KAC mount (since I’m a KAC fan), which would come to a total of nearly $500. But there’s also the new Aimpoint PRO (Patrol Rifle Optic)… Comparison: R-1: ~$500. 9 ounces (with mount), 3.5 MOA, 50,000 hours, 15 feet submersion. PRO: $405. 11.6 oz. Suggestions? The Reluctant Redcoat.
