Access various other word-emotion, word-sentiment, and word-colour lexicons here.) NRC Emotion Lexicon in Other Languages The NRC Emotion Lexicon has affect annotations for English words. Despite some cultural differences, it has been shown that a majority of affective norms are stable across languages. Thus we provide versions of the lexicon in over twenty languages by translating the English terms using Google Translate (July 2015). See README of the NRC Emotion Lexicon for more details about the lexicon and the terms of use. Note that some translations by Google Translate may be incorrect or they may simply be transliterations of the original English terms. An Interactive Visualizer. I took a stab at a Quora question, What are the most powerful open-source sentiment-analysis tools?.

What are the most powerful open-source sentiment-analysis tools? – Breakthrough Analysis

Here’s my response: I know of no open-source (software) tools dedicated to sentiment analysis. Instead, a variety of open-source text-analytics tools — natural-language processing for information extraction and classification — can be applied for sentiment analysis. They include — – Python NLTK (Natural Language Toolkit), but see also – R, TM (text mining) module, including tm.plugin.sentiment. – RapidMiner, – GATE, the General Architecture for Text Engineering, I’m sure you can also find UIMA-plug-in annotators for sentiment — Apache UIMA is the Unstructured Information Management Architecture, — also sentiment classifiers for the WEKA data-mining workbench, See for one example.

I bet someone’s doing sentiment with the Stanford NLP tools, although my understanding is the maximum-entropy classification isn’t the best approach for sentiment. Powerful, I can’t say. Take one large pile of text (documents, emails, tweets, patents, papers, transcripts, blogs, comments, acts of parliament, and so on and so forth) -- call this your corpus.Pick a structured description of interesting things in the text (a telephone directory, or chemical taxonomy, or something from the Linked Data cloud) -- call this your ontology.Use GATE Teamware to mark up a gold standard example set of annotations of the corpus (1.) relative to the ontology (2.).Use GATE Developer to build a semantic annotation pipeline to do the annotation job automatically and measure performance against the gold standard.Take the pipeline from 4. and apply it to your text pile using GATE Cloud (or embed it in your own systems using GATE Embedded).Use GATE Mimir to store the annotations relative to the ontology in a multiparadigm index server.

An intro to those devilish descriptors: It seems that there is often confusion about descriptors – what they are and how to use them in your mixed methods or qualitative data analysis.

Descriptors and Your Qualitative Data Analysis – Part 1: The Lingo Blog

Descriptors are powerful. They allow you to break out your qualitative work across demographic and other survey data for greater insights. When using descriptors in your qualitative data analysis, in addition to being able to analyze media files, you are able to break out the information that describes the source of your media files to see things from different perspectives and introduce new dimensions to your analysis. It is an Emacs major mode that seems to hit most of your requirements. The .org files are plain text which should guard against bloat and lets you access them anywhere, even when you do not have Emacs or Org-mode available.
