My family and I recently embarked on our first big family vacation since my second son was born. We began our cloth diaper journey with him so we’ve been learning on the job, so to speak. In the past we’ve taken weekend trips with our cloth diapers in tow and haven’t had any problems. Of course, on the trip we take out of state the fluff-apocalypse occurred.
The worst part was, it was my fault. MY fault. I prepped my entire family on diaper protocol in order to avoid a diaper rash cream incident or a laundry disaster and I ended up shooting myself in the foot. What had happened was……I forgot that my mother’s washing machine automatically dispenses fabric softener until the little cache is empty. My husband and I decided to use disposable diapers until we got home so I could strip the diapers and try to repair the damage I had caused. Two weeks and 16 hours in the car later we pulled into our driveway.
