50 QR code resources for the classroom. As mobile learning and technology is more readily integrated within classroom settings, QR codes can be used as an interesting method to capture a student's attention and make lesson material more interactive.

Quick response codes, also known as 'QR' codes, are simple, scannable images that are a form of barcode. By scanning a QR code image through a mobile device, information can be accessed including text, links, bookmarks and email addresses. In the classroom, QR codes can be used in a variety of ways -- from conducting treasure hunts to creating modern CVs. Google Tour Builder as a new piece of software that lets you quickly create online presentations about field trips, excursions and even imaginary voyages.

Tour builder lets you combine Google Earth, photos and videos as well as text to create engaging presentations. The tool is very intuitive and fun to use and does not really need any prior training. The media can be imported from Google+ and YouTube or uploaded directly. It looks like Google is going to integrate Tour Builder into Google drive. It has the same look and feel and some of the same sharing option. Student Selectors & Grouping Tools. When I first started teaching 20 years ago I always had a coffee can full of popsicle sticks with my students name on them sitting on my desk .

When I needed to ask a question, I pulled a stick from the can to randomly choose a student. My old coffee can is now gone and instead there are tons of great options for selecting students online! They are super easy to use and so much fun- for you and for your students I use these in my classroom and also when I'm training teachers. Keep in mind that these toosl don't have to be limited to names and that you can enter lists of numbers, vocabulary words, research paper topics, characters in a story-basically anything you can create a list of. A session that I had prepared for the IL-TCE conference went from "Web 2.0 Tools for the Classroom" to "Why Web 2.0 Is Important to the Future of Education. " Then, as PowerPoint fever gripped me ( Impress, actually), moving slides around as though they were puzzle pieces finally coming together correctly, I found my thoughts coalescing toward a bold conclusion and a final title change: "Web 2.0 Is the Future of Education. " It was not, I know, what I was supposed to talk about. But it felt so important, as though the idea needed me to say it out loud.
