Staind. History[edit] Early days and Tormented (1994–1998)[edit] During this time, Staind acquired a concert slot through Aaron's cousin Justin Cantor with Limp Bizkit. (Justin had managed them and was a rising star in the entertainment industry)..Just prior to the performance, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst was appalled by Staind's grotesque album cover and unsuccessfully attempted to remove them from the bill. 40 Below Summer. 40 Below Summer is an American nu metal band from New Jersey. Formed in 1998, the band is currently signed to London-Sire Records and Razor & Tie and disestablished 7 years later in 2005 which led to a small reunion the next year and yet another reunion in 2010 until deciding to permanently form together once again in 2011. In April, 2013 the new album Fire at Zero Gravity was released. History[edit] Beginnings (1998-2000)[edit] Formed in 1998, 40 Below Summer came together after drummer and Peruvian native Carlos Aguilar met with singer Max Illidge. Invitation to the Dance (2001-2002)[edit] The Mourning After (2003-2005)[edit] Unsigned at this point, Razor & Tie Records saw the band in February 2003 when they played in New York with E.Town Concrete. The Last Dance (2006)[edit] In October 2006, there was speculation that the band had reunited.

History[edit] Dance of December Souls (1991–1995)[edit] The early Katatonia releases, such as the EP Jhva Elohim Meth... The Revival and their debut album Dance of December Souls, are noted for the overall bleak melancholy and despair of their sound, often giving them the classification of black/doom[1] or death/doom. The band recorded For Funerals to Come in September 1994. Afterwards, Le Huche left the band. For Funerals to Come was released in 1995. The band took the whole year off due to their struggle to find a permanent lineup. Brave Murder Day (1996–1997)[edit] When Jonas Renkse formed October Tide in 1995 with Fredrik Norrman, he decided to revive Katatonia and had Fredrik Norrman join the band.
In 1996, Opeth's Mikael Åkerfeldt performed the growling vocals on Brave Murder Day when regular Katatonia singer (and then-drummer) Renkse became unable to perform harsh vocals properly. EMI gave the band a budget of $5,000 to record a demo tape, and the band chose to work with producer Keith Levene, because he shared the band's interest in drugs.[24] Levene and Slovak decided to put aside $2,000 of the budget to spend on heroin and cocaine, which created tension between the band members.
The band won the LA Weekly "Band of the Year Award," which prompted Kiedis to get clean in order to continue making music. The album was recorded in the basement of the Capitol Records Building.[32] The recording process for the album was difficult; Kiedis would frequently disappear to seek drugs.[33] After fifty days of sobriety, Kiedis decided to take drugs again to celebrate his new music. Keenan collaborated on a leather jacket with Paul Frank.[3] On September 16, 2008, Keenan updated the puscifer.com blog, revealing that the first ever Puscifer store would be opening "hopefully" by October 1 in Jerome, Arizona. Molko, observing that Olsdal had a guitar strapped to his back, invited Olsdal to watch him perform at a local gig. Karnivool. History[edit] Early years (1997-2003)[edit] Between 1998 and 2004, the band underwent a number of line-up changes. The 1998 incarnation of Karnivool consisted of Kenny on lead vocals, Andrew 'Drew' Goddard on lead guitar, Andrew Brown on bass and Brett McKenzie on drums. In 2000, Brown was replaced by Jon Stockman and, shortly after, McKenzie also left and Ray Hawking joined on drums.
Mark Hosking joined as rhythm guitarist in 2003 and in late 2004 Steve Judd replaced Hawking. As of 2004, the band's line-up consists of Kenny, Goddard, Hosking, Stockman and Judd. After releasing Persona, the band won the Western Australian State Final of the National Campus Band Competition and competed in the National Finals held in Hobart, Tasmania. Cold, who at the time were called Grundig, formed in 1996 with the line-up of Scooter Ward (vocals, guitar), Sam McCandless (drums), Jeremy Marshall (bass) and Matt Loughran (guitar). The band, initially based in Jacksonville, moved to Atlanta hoping to get a break in the industry. During this time, Matt Loughran left the band and was replaced by Sean Lay, who also left the group. Kelly Hayes then joined the band, and they all later returned to Florida. That same year, the band released the Oddity EP. Following the underground success of Cold, Geffen financed their second album titled 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage, which was released in 2000. With the success of 13 Ways to Bleed on Stage, Geffen financed their third major album titled Year of the Spider, which was released in 2003.
By September 2004, the band had added former member Matt Loughran and was signed by Atlantic Records (Lava Records division), where they set about recording a new album. The band originally consisted of Brad Arnold (vocals/drums), Todd Harrell (bass) and Matt Roberts (guitar). They took in guitarist Chris Henderson in the very early days of The Better Life's creation and released the album as a 4 piece band. Richard Liles played drums for the band during their touring stint on that record. From 2002 - 2005 The band hired Daniel Adair as a "touring" drummer and took off to play nearly 1000 shows as this formation all across the world in support of their hugely successful 'Away From The Sun' album.
